Coach Tom's goal is to help young swimmers develop and grow as individuals, not just swimmers. His passion lies in helping swimmers learn how to be the best teammate, set goals, overcome failures, and have fun! Swimming is a great way to learn the value of hard work and committment, and Coach Tom demonstrates this with use of goal-setting, team building, and focus on effort - not outcome. There is such a thing as over-training which often leads to burnout, and Coach Tom does his best to prevent this with his implementation of note cards with goals - for both in and OUT of the pool. He stresses the importance of life lessons learned through swimming and how to use these lessons to become a strong leader and embrace challenges of all kinds.
Tom grew up in Gladstone Michigan. Tom and his wife Ronda have three children Max, Mally, and Mason. Tom enjoys spending time with them boating, downhill skiing, fishing, hunting, and other outdoor sports.
