All of our coaches are dedicated and experienced swimmers. They are available to help each swimmer become the best that they can. Feel free to approach any of them with comments, questions, or concerns before or after practice (so that they can concentrate on coaching during practice.)

Nicholas P Puente

Nick started swimming when he was 11 years old for the Southgate Gators swim team. He began coaching high school in 2007 and coached at TSC from 2008 to 2014. He studied industrial design and figure drawing at Wayne State University. He is a USA certified coach and is happy to be back with TSC as our team's head coach. We look forward to watching our swimmers grow under his direction.

 

Megan Dossey

Megan Dossey started swimming at age 9.  She swam with TSC, swam 4 years at Trenton High School and 4 years at Olivet College. She has been coaching for TSC since 2018. She is a USA certified coach and we are very excited to have her on our team. Her drive, determination and knowledge of competitive swimming are assets that TSC plans to enjoy for many years to come. Her favorite TSC memory is Coach Nick running bleacher practice.

Adam Mulka

Adam is the newest member of the TSC coaching family. Adam is currently working on finishing his Masters Degree in Biochemical Engineering at Wayne State University. He swam at Trenton High School and also swam for 1 year at Wayne State. Though this is Adam's first year coaching, he brings a lot of experience and we are excited he is sharing his swimming knowledge with TSC. His favorite TSC memory is morning practices outside his junior and senior years.

Caden J Westrate

Caden started swimming when he was 5 years old. He has been with TSC for that long! Caden has been helping out with bubble blowers and swim lessons since he was 9 and began coaching for TSC in 2018. He is a welcomed addition to the team. His favorite TSC memory is when the team had cow tongue tacos for family meal after practice during the summer.

Sam Glatfelter

Coach Sam started swimming at the age of 7 for the TSC program. He swam throughout middle school and currently a member of the Varsity boys swim team at Trenton High School. For the past 2 years, Coach Sam has helped coach the Pre-Novice group with Nurse Cathy in the summer. He is excited to be coaching and to see the kids improve!

James DeRupa

Coach Jimmy is a graduate of Olivet College. He is the Head Swim Coach of the Boys and Girls Swim Teams at Trenton HIgh School. The Fall 2018 Season will be his first year as the Trenton Swim Club Team Manager.

Caleb Menna

Email

Caleb began swimming at a young age and was part of TSC for several years.  He eventually stopped swimming and was involved with other sports, including wrestling and rowing. Caleb returned to swimming in his junior year and joined the Riverview High School Swim Team coached by Sean Kelly.  He worked very hard to make up for lost time and eventually worked his way up and qualified for the state team in both his junior and senior years.  After graduation, he was an Assistant Coach at Seitz Middle School under Joyce Hollow.  He is currently majoring in Education at the University of Michigan-Dearborn.

 

Kira Gates

Coach Kira began coaching in 2012 for the Grosse Ile Country Club immediately after graduating from Grosse Ile High School where she was captain of the swim team for two years.  Her swimming career began in 2004 where she began swimming in Florida for the Lakewood Ranch Lightning.  Since living in Michigan she has swam with Club Wolverine, Woodhaven Area Marlins and Dearborn Dolphins.  Coach Kira swam at Olivet College where she was also captain of the Women's Swimming and Diving Team.  She has also helped out with the Grosse Ile High School Varsity Swim Team.  She is very excited to be coaching for TSC for her third season while attending Pharmacy School at Wayne State.
