Shawn Shelby Klosterman
Director/ Head Coach
Shawn Klosterman is the founder, Director and current Head
Coach of BERZERKER Swimming, having started the club in the fall of
1999 under it's original name: Jasper County Killer Whales.
Shawn spent his youth training with the Viking Swim Club in
Petersburg, Alaska, and the South Snohomish County Dolphins in
Everett, WA. Shawn attended Southwest Missouri State
University (now Missouri State) competing as a Breaststroke and IM
specialist. He graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor in Ed.
Degree with K-12 Certification in Physical Education, and has since
earned a Masters' Degree in Athletic Administration through William
Woods University. Shawn is the Aquatics Director for the Webb
City R-VII School District and teaches K-12 Swimming classes as
well as coaching the Boys and Girls Varsity Cardinals. He is
currently on the MSHSAA Swimming Advisory Board, and also serves as
Administrative Vice Chair for the Arkansas Swimming LSC Board of
Directors. You might see Shawn in the water with the team
once in a while as he still swims competitively with our Masters as
well as in USA Swimming meets. Shawn wears a lot of hats and
gets pulled in a lot of directions but is always working to make
swimming in the 4-states bigger and better. His daughters
Camryn and Norah currently swim with our team, and Shawn's wife
Meghan is a former swimmer as well. Shawn is okay with with being
called Coach K, but really he likes it when people call him
Nathaniel Oberley has been around the pool most of his life.
After swimming for summer team for several years, he joined a
USA team at the age of 10. Nate has 6 years of experience
with the Swim America program, teaching preschoolers, school age
children, and adults how to swim efficiently and effectively.
He started coaching a group of 8 & under swimmers in 2012
through his club team Old Dominion Aquatic Club in Virginia Beach,
VA where he swam for 7 years and worked his way up to the NCSA
Junior National level. He came to love coaching and giving back to
the sport, leading to jobs with the Webb City Summer Swim Team and
the Rolla Fins Swim Team. Nate recently graduated from MSSU and
primarily works with our Elite Age Group squad.
AAG and Senior Coach
Brian's primary assignment is the development of our newest members
for racing with our Contract team with the AAG squad, but he also
serves as the main Assistant with our Senior Team.
Brian is our technique guru and often assists with all
of our practice groups with specific stroke work as needed. Before
coming to Berzerker, Brian coached at New Rochelle Sailfish and
White Plains Riptides in New York. His experience will help to
ensure your swimmer is set up for a fun and successful future in
Sharon Griffing has been teaching swim lessons to children and adults of all ages since 2008. As the spouse to a soldier in the Unites States Army, Sharon has had the opportunity to teach swimming in several different states. As part of her ongoing instructor education, Sharon achieved her American Red Cross WSIT Certification in 2014, enabling her to train others to become American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors. She is currently in charge of our PREP groups, which primarily practice in the deep well. She focuses on laying the foundation to learn proper technique, with fun skills and drills that focus on balance, rhythm, sculling and breath control so that our swimmers can learn proper technique from the beginning. Sharon and her husband have 3 sons and currently live in Pittsburg, KS.
Sydnie Kate Storm
COMP Team & PSU Site Coach
Coach Sydnie is a 2017 graduate of Webb City High School with a
long history of success as both a Cardinal and a Berzerker.
She is eager to help our swimmers to excel within the
Tri-State conference in the summer with her knowledge of swimming
technique and her endlessly positive attitude. Sydnie attends
Pittsburg State University and is the lead coach for our COMP
practices at our Pittsburg site.
Masters, COMP and Tri-State Coach
Megan Cameron is the coach for our COMP group, the head coach of
our Tri-State summer league team, and also our adult Masters
coach. She grew up swimming competitively year-round
with the Lakeland Hills YMCA Swim Team in Mountain Lakes, NJ as
well as the Lake Valhalla Club, a lake swim team, in Montville, NJ.
She later swam in Illinois for Barrington High School and
Barrington Swim Club, a USA swim team. She attended Indiana
University and spent summers teaching swim lessons, coaching 8
& under swimmers, and later even taught her husband to swim at
25 years old! When their daughters, Mae and Molly, started
competing with Berzerker, Megan rediscovered her love for the
sport! She currently trains and competes in USMS and USA swim
meets, as well as triathlon. In 2017 she qualified and competed in
the Age Group Nationals for USAT in Omaha, NE and was nationally
ranked in the 2017 USMS Top Ten Times for her age group for the LCM
50 and 100 backstroke. Megan currently holds 4 Arkansas
Masters State records and is competing in the USMS Spring Nationals
in May 2018. She is passionate about helping athletes of
all ages reach their goals in fitness and competition!
