Cliff Gordon

In his 5th year with the Hillsborough Aquatic Club, Head Coach Clifton Gordon plans to build on the success of the previous seasons that saw swimmers qualify for the NCS 14 & Under Championships (1 Individual Event Winner in 2017,2019), the 14 & Under Southeastern Sectional Championships (2 Individual Event Winners in 2017,2018), the NCS 15 & Over Championships, USA Swimming Futures Championship, and the North Carolina Swimming Select Camp.  Under Coach Gordon, HAC swimmers have broken more than 300 team records during his tenure year as head coach. Prior to taking over HAC, Coach Gordon was the Head Age Group coach with HAC where he coached swimmers to multiple NCS 14 & Under Championship  qualifying times.

Gordon grew up swimming with the Delaware Swim Team in Wilmington, Delaware under Coach Bruce Gemmell.  He swam for 4 years at the University of North Carolina, where he graduated with a degree in Interpersonal and Organizational Communications.  While at UNC, he was a member of the All-Time Top 10 in the 100 and 200 yard Backstroke, and was a recipient of the 2014-2015 Hill Carrow Team Spirit Award. Over his swimming career he qualified for USA Swimming Junior National Championships, National Championships, and U.S. Open.

Morgan Holbrook

This will be Coach Morgan Holbrook’s third season with the Hillsborough Aquatic Club. She was born and raised in Utah and recently graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Strategic Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations. She has 15 years of competitive swimming experience and was ranked top 12 in the state of Utah by the time she finished her competitive career. During those years, she represented the Hilltop Aquatic Swim Team as well as her local high school team in Utah County. Since becoming a member of the HAC staff, Coach Morgan has coached multiple Makos I & II swimmers to mulitple NCS Age Group Championship qualifying times.
Coach Morgan has 10 years of experience coaching local summer league teams, technique clinics, and private/semi private lessons, and HAC. Coach Morgan has had the opportunity to teach a variety of ages and levels starting from age 3 all the way up to 65. She has a passion for teaching and finds great joy from helping swimmers gain confidence and a love for the water.

Robert Anderson

This will be Coach Robert Anderson’s first season with Hillsborough Aquatic Club. Anderson, a native of Durham, started the sport at the age of 5. He swam for the Durham Summer Swim League and year round until age 18. Anderson began coaching summer league when he was 15. He spent his senior year of high school swimming for Capital of Texas Aquatics, where he made Junior National cuts in the 50 Free and 100 Free.

 

Robert swam 4 years for University North Carolina Wilmington under head coach David Allen and Assistant Coach Todd DeSorbo. He graduated with a degree in Public Health. At UNCW, Robert was awarded CAA Rookie of the Year, CAA Swimmer of the Year, and UNCW’s Thomas Mosley Award for Most Outstanding Athlete. Anderson qualified for NCAA Championship his senior year. He is in the all-time top 10 in 50 Free and 100 Breast, which he holds the team record. In the off-season, he was a lifeguard for Wrightsville Beach Ocean Rescue and he taught swim lessons through the Seahawk Swim School. After graduating, Anderson coached for Waves of Wilmington as well as New South Swimming. He then went on to serve in the United States Air Force for 4 years.

Dylan Twiddy

Coach   Dylan   Twiddy  is in his first season with Hillsborough Aquatic Club. Previously he served as an assistant coach for the Salisbury Cyclones summer league team and Rowan Aquatic Club for the 2018 summer season. Being a native of Hillsborough,  Dylan  attended Orange High School and was a member of the men’s swim team during the duration of his high school experience. While there, he broke multiple school records and made four regional appearances and one state appearance. After graduating from OHS in 2015 he continued his swim career at Catawba College in Salisbury N.C. majoring in exercise science. For three seasons he competed in the top DII Conference in the nation competing against elite athletes which included several olympians. His specialty is mid to long distance freestyle and 100/200 butterfly
