Coach Cliff Gordon is in his second year with the Hillsborough Aquatic Club and his first year as Head Coach and Director of Competitive Swimming. He received previous coaching experience through the Suburban Swim League in Delaware, where he helped coach his team to the League title in their first season in the top division. He also previously coached at Club Kick Start in Chapel Hill. He was also one of the lead instructors as a part of USA Swimming’s Make-A-Splash initiative in the Middle Atlantic LSC.
Coach Cliff grew up swimming club for the Delaware Swim Team in Wilmington, Delaware. While competiting in high school swimming he achieved the status of HS All-American, Scholastic All-American, and State Champion. He swam 4 years at the University of North Carolina, where he graduated with a degree in Interpersonal and Organizational Communications. While at UNC, he was a member of the all-time top 10 in 200 back and 100 back and was the recipient of the 2014-2015 Hill Carrow Team Spirit Award. He was also a USA Swimming Jr. National, U.S. Open, and National Championship Qualifier & participant.
Head Age Group Coach
This will be Coach Morgan Holbrook’s first season with the Hillsborough Aquatic Club. She was born and raised in Utah and recently graduated from the University of Utah with a degree in Strategic Communications with an emphasis in Public Relations. She has 15 years of competitive swimming experience and was ranked top 12 in the state of Utah by the time she finished her competitive career. During those years, she represented the Hilltop Aquatic Swim Team as well as her local high school team in Utah County.
Coach Morgan has 8 years of experience coaching local summer league teams, technique clinics, and private/semi private lessons. Coach Morgan has had the opportunity to teach a variety of ages and levels starting from age 3 all the way up to 65. She has a passion for teaching and finds great joy from helping swimmers gain confidence and a love for the water.
Emily Pfeiffer is in her first year with the Hillsborough Aquatic
Club. She has previous coaching experience as an assistant coach
with Club Kick Start, and head summer league coach at the Durham
Woodcroft Whirlwinds, where she coached them to their first
division championship win in over 10 years. Coach Emily grew up
swimming for Greenville Swim Club, now East Carolina Aquatics,
since she was 6 years old. While in high school swimming, she was
the first state champion in the history of her high school, as well
as reaching HS All-American and Scholastic All-American status. She
was recruited and swam 4 years at the University of North Carolina
at Chapel Hill, where she graduated with a degree in Political
Science, as well as being an ACC Honor Roll student-athlete. During
her swimming career at UNC, Emily achieved all-time top 5 in the
100 breaststroke, 200 breaststroke and 200 IM, recipient of the
2016-2017 Hill Carrow Team Spirit Award, as well as a current UNC
team record holder in the 400 medley relay after competing at the
2017 NCAA Swimming Championships in Indianapolis. She was a USA
Swimming Jr. National, National, U.S. Open, and World Championship
Trials Qualifier & participant.
Coach Dana brings to Hillsborough Aquatic Club 20 + years of coaching experience, working at the summer league, high school, and club level. She began coaching during high school, working with summer league teams in her home town of Houston, Texas, which she continued to do throughout college. During her time as a middle school teacher, she continued to coach, working with a club team during the school year and as a head coach of summer league teams during the summers. Dana currently heads up the Hillsborough Aquatic Club’s pre competitive group, working primarily with 8 & Under swimmers.
