Email

Coach Alex Cronin founded APEX Aquatics at Bosse in September of 2015. Previously Coach Alex was the head coach and owner of Phoenix Swimming at Bosse, the head coach of the MetroWest Aquatic Club and the Age Group Director and Associate Head Coach of Bernal’s Gator Swim Club.

During his tenure at Phoenix Swimming, Alex was recognized with the 2014 Outstanding Achievement award by the American Swim Coaches Association for his work with Olympic Gold Medalist Rhi Jeffrey. His group of athletes contributed to first place finishes at the New England Senior Championships, the New England 13&Over Age Group Championships, a men’s team title at the Eastern Zone Speedo Sectionals meet as well as second place finishes at the New England 12&Under Championships. He had athletes that met standard for National Reportable Time (Top 16), New England Top Ten and New England Outstanding Swimmers. His athletes broke individual New England records as well as contributing to New England relay records.

Utilizing the opportunity to be mentored by Olympic Coach Joe Bernal, Coach Alex spent eight years coaching for the Bernal’s Gator Swim Club. At BGSC Alex developed a technical approach to the sport of swimming that puts emphasis on educating and motivating swimmers towards their full potential. He believes that there is a science and art to coaching and that when both are emphasized the athletes in a program fully develop. During his tenure at Gator, Alex developed many New England champions and swimmers that placed amongst the top ranked swimmers in the country. Many of these athletes have gone on to strong showings at NCAA National Championships, USA Swimming Senior Nationals, US Olympic Trials and many more top-level national and international meets.

Coach Alex is a high energy coach who works well with young athletes, while educating and coordinating with their parents to put the swimmer in the best possible situation to maximize their potential. He has a proven track record in New England swimming for technical efficiency and high levels of success. Excited to usher in a new tradition of excellence for USA Swimming with Apex Aquatics Association, Alex draws from the rich traditions of his past and innovations developing at the forefront of the sport to put together a dynamic program in which athletes of all ability levels can thrive.
