Andrew Dragunas, Ph.D.

A native of Pointe-Claire, Quebec, Dragunas was a Canadian Youth and Junior National Champion in the 200-meter butterfly and competed at two Olympic Trial competitions. A graduate and four-year competitor at East Carolina University, he set freshman and school records in the 200-yard butterfly and was awarded Rookie of the Year as a freshman. 

After completing his undergraduate degree, he began coaching age-group swimmers at Pointe-Claire Swim Club. His swimmers reached the podium at their respective National Age-Group Championship. In 2007, Dragunas moved to London, Ontario to study biomechanics at the University of Western Ontario and assist Olympic Coach Paul Midgley with the swimming team. As an assistant coach and biomechanist with the university swimming team, Dragunas worked with the sprint program and their Canadian Junior and Senior national team members.  

He received a Bachelor of Science in Physical Education in 2005, a Master of Science in Kinesiology in 2009 and a Doctorate in 2015 with a thesis in swimming biomechanics. Andrew has several peer-reviewed publications focused on swimming technique and training.

Drew Thomas, M.S.Ed.

Drew Thomas has been involved in competitive swimming for over 30 years. He swam from the early years of the OLSC's inception to his collegiate experiences at The University of Western Ontario and Oswego State.  He has been coaching for close to 20 years at various levels which include club (age group coach), modified, and varsity swim team head coach positions. Drew's philosophy in swimming is to promote the growth of swimming as a sport through positivity coupled with an integrated approach of quality programming, evidenced-based practice, and a growth model development for all swimmers at all levels.

Jennifer Foley

Jenny is in her first year of coaching with the Oswego Laker Swim Club. Her swimming background includes swimming Master's with the London Silver Dolphins (Ontario).  Jenny has her Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Geology and ran Cross Country and Track in high school and college.  She also volunteers with the SUNY Oswego Track and Field team.

Heather E Sugar, M.S. Ed.

Heather grew up in Oswego, and started competitively swimming at the age of 7.  After swimming for OLSC through high school, she went on to compete for Nazareth College of Rochester, where she served as co-captain for junior and senior years.  Heather earned both her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Education, as well as her Masters of Science in Education from Nazareth.  She has several years of coaching experience with club teams, and is honored to be returning to the pool deck as a coach for OLSC.  

Megan Myers

Megan Myers began her swimming career on the Central Coast of California. She was the 2002 LCM Junior National Champion in the 200 IM, before packing up and moving across the country to swim for The Pennsylvania State University. Megan became the team co-captain, earned Academic All-Big Ten honors, and held the school record in the 400 IM. She would later place 23rd in the 400 IM at the 2004 U.S. Olympic Swimming Trials. Megan holds undergraduate degrees in journalism and sociology. She has several years of experience coaching age group and Masters swimmers, and is excited to be back on the pool deck to help teach and inspire the next generation of swimmers.

Matthew Roelands

Matthew is currently attending SUNY Oswego to earn Bachelor’s degrees in Broadcasting and French. Matthew’s hometown is Newark, New York, where he kept busy in his years of school as a Boy Scout, receiving the rank of Eagle, and involved with academics and athletics (soccer, swimming, and tennis). He has always enjoyed the swim atmosphere as a swimmer, lifeguard, and coach and continues to gain experience now at OLSC.

Josh A Lerch

Assistant Coach

Josh is a graduate of SUNY Oswego. He has a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a Master’s degree in Literacy Education. Josh has lived in Syracuse and Albany, finally settling in Oswego in 1999 for his undergraduate degree.  He joined his first swim team at age 13 and then competed through college.  At SUNY Oswego he qualified for NCAA Division III Nationals his senior year, as well as being named MVP of the SUNYAC Conference.
