Skaneateles Lightning Coaching Team:
Head Coach: Seth Williams
Seth has returned to swimming after his kids progressed through the swim lesson program at the Y and onto the Lightning swim team. He is a former men’s and women’s swim coach at Syracuse University and served as Aquatics Director for the NCAA National Youth Sports Program. He brings his passion and love for swimming to the program and is willing to help anyone showing the desire to succeed. His well balanced approach toward swimming fits perfectly at the Skaneateles YMCA as it utilizes all aspects of the facility. This balance stems from his youth as both a YMCA and USAS swimmer, achieving national recognition in both leagues. Seth is a graduate of Syracuse University where he captained the men’s squad his Jr. and Sr. years. He is a Sales Manager in his professional career.
Assistant Coach: Chris Torell
Chris continues his coaching career by joining the Lightning team. He is a lifelong swimmer and coach who realizes the benefits swimming has on a person’s life. He is an active member of the Skaneateles YMCA Masters Swim team and his experiences are rooted in the YMCA, USAS and FINA. Additionally, he was on the Board of Directors during the transition of the program from Splash to Lightning several years ago. He brings 18 years of club coaching experience to the program and looks to better anyone willing to challenge themselves. Chris holds an office in the Niagara Swimming District as Safety Director and Safe Sport Director. He is a graduate of Colgate University and an Environmental Engineer in his professional career.
Assistant Coach: Farron Bennett
Farron joins us after returning from the Cayman Islands where she operated a swimming instruction school, Swim and Trim. She brings 15 years of teaching experience to the program. Farron began her instructional career at the Cortland YMCA and has prided herself on building proficient young swimmers. As a coach, she has mentored kids through the entire process; learn to swim to competitive swimmer. Farron is a graduate of Cortland State and serves as the primary learn to swim program coordinator at the Y.
Strength Coach: Helen Williams
Helen has returned to swimming after her kids progressed through the swim lesson program at the Y and onto the Lightning swim team. She is a former men’s and women’s strength coach for swimming at Syracuse University. Helen brings more than 20 years of experience and is excited to join a team focused on bettering the lives of all those willing to work hard. She has previously served as the Program coordinator for Welch Allyn’s corporate fitness centers. She is a graduate of Springfield College and is the Health and Wellness Director at the Skaneateles Y.
