Jack has over 30 years of coaching experience, and has been the
Head Coach of the Red Bank YMCA swim team since 1997. Prior
to that he served as Head Coach at Ocean County College, and as the
National Swim Coach at the Toms River YMCA. Subsequent to
graduating from St. John’s University with a B.S. in Business
Administration, Jack held the position of Assistant Swim Coach at
his alma mater. He has served as the President of the YMCA
Swimming National Coaches Advisory and has been a member of the
YMCA National Swimming and Diving Advisory Committee since 2011.
Additionally, Jack has served as the Chair of the YMCA National
Coaches committee, Chair of the YMCA National Time Standards
Committee, as well as the Regional Representative for the
Mid-Atlantic Region. Jack is also a Member of the NJ YMCA Swim
Committee and is a past Chair. Jack was named National Junior
College Coach of the year in 1996. During Jack’s tenure
at Red Bank YMCA the past 17 years, he has sent over 125 swimmers
to NCAA programs at all levels, with some of these swimmers having
competed at the U.S. National and Olympic trial levels. He
has lead 10 teams to top 10 finishes at YMCA Nationals, and has
coached over 150 YMCA All-Americans, which included 3 national
champions as well as multiple top 5 individual and relay finishes.
Most recently, Jack lead Red Bank YMCA to a second place overall
finish at the 2017 Long Course Nationals, as well as a combined
2016 New Jersey YMCA short course championship. In 2016 Jack was
named National Coach of the Meet.
In addition to supervising a staff of 17 assistant coaches, and
being responsible for a variety of administrative duties, Jack
serves as a mentor and advisor to high school age RBY swimmers on a
variety of issues including academics, health issues, college
recruiting, and the college selection process. Jack is also
responsible for having implementing a comprehensive dry land and
weight training program for team participants encompassing all ages
and stages of progress.
Associate Head Coach, Camp Zehnder
Paul has been coaching swimming for over 20 years. He began his career as an assistant coach at RBY before moving to a head coaching position at Freehold YMCA which he held for 12 years. During that time he coached numerous YMCA state champions, All-Americans and YMCA National Champions. Paul is excited to be back where it all started for him helping continue the great Red Bank YMCA tradition. Paul is married and has 2 young sons.

Retired Science Teacher Matawan Regional High School. Over 30
years coaching experience with the YMCA, 15 at Red Bank. Works
with Senior 1, Senior 1B and Blue Group. Assistant Coach with
the National Team the past 12 years. Married to Coach
Georgann. Has one daughter Katie, who competed for RBY

Lynne Cefalo has been at the Red Bank Y for over 26 years. During this time she has coached a number of age group State Champions, team record breakers and participants in Junior Olympics and Zone teams. She has four children, all of whom swam competitively, three completed 4 years in Division 1 college programs. In addition, many of her current as well as former swimmers have participated in competitions at various levels, such as Junior Olympics, Zones, High School, YMCA States, National competitions, Collegiate conferences and NCAA’s. Lynne hopes to continue to help swimmers learn teamwork, good sportsmanship and develop a skill and love of swimming that will last a lifetime.
Coach for Jr1, Jr2 and Blue
Jim is currently in his 10th season coaching at Red
Bank YMCA. During this time he has had several swimmers
qualify for Junior Olympics and New Jersey Zone teams. Most
recently, under his leadership the 12 and under group won the
YMCA state championship for the 2013-2014 short course
season. Jim holds a B.A. from Virginia Wesleyan College in
Recreation Management, as well as an Associate Degree from Dean
College in Liberal Studies with a focus on Psychology.
Coach for Sr/Sr1, Sr2, Sr2B
Brian has been involved in competitive swimming for over 40
years. Brian has been on the RBY coaching staff since 2009. He has
coached previously at Middletown Swim Club, Curl-Burke swim club in
Washington DC, as well as Stanford University men’s swim
team. Brian is a graduate of Stanford University where he has been
inducted into their Hall of Fame. Brian is also a member of the
City of Sparks, Nevada Hall of Fame, as well as the Reno Aquatic
Club Hall of Fame. Some of Brian’s accomplishments include
being a 15 time NCAA champion, 25 time NCAA All-American, 12 time
American Record holder, and 10 year USA National team
member. Brian was a 13 time Pac-12 Conference champion, and a
Pac-12 Athlete of the Year. Brian was voted one of the top 5
athletes ever for the state of Nevada. He won a Gold medal at the
1994 World Championships and Silver medals at the 1993 Pan Pacific
and 1997 World Championships. He was ranked top 8 in the world 5
consecutive years, and was the first person ever to break 46
seconds in the 100 yard backstroke. At one point in time in his
swim career, Brian held the top 6 times ever in the 100 yard Back,
8 of the top 10, as well as the top 2 times for the 200 yard Back.
For nearly 10 years Brian held the fastest 50 yard free relay split
ever recorded. Brian held numerous National Age Group and Pacific
Swimming records, and still holds the Nevada High School state
record in the 100 yard Back, set nearly 30 years ago. He is a
father of 2 children, Board Member of St. Mary’s Athletic
Association in Middletown, and is a Eucharistic Minister and Lector
at Mary Mother of God Church.

Joan joined the Red Bank YMCA coaching staff in the Fall of 2013. She has also been a part time swim instructor for the past 9 years teaching both children and adults. Joan started swimming competitively at the age of 12 and competed during her college years at New York University. Joan resides in Middletown with her husband and two sons.
Coach for Jr2, Sr2
Tom began his involvement with Red Bank YMCA as a swimmer, and
was a 3 time YMCA National Champion, as well as a Junior National
Champion and record holder. After graduating from Christian
Brothers Academy (Lincroft), Tom continued his swim career at
Stanford University, where he earned his undergraduate degree. Tom
was a 16 time United States National Champion, a World Champion and
American Record Holder, and a Gold Medalist in multiple events at
the Goodwill Games, World Cup, Pan Pacific Championships, World
University Games, and US Open. He is a 5 time NCA champion, and
served as Stanford’s Swim Team Captain during the 1997-98
season, when he lead Stanford to victory at the 1998 NCAA
Championships. Tom also served as Team Captain of the USA Swimming
National Team from 2000 through 2003. He is a 4 time Kipputh Award
Winner, given to the highest point scorer at the US National
Championships, and was named to the Pac-12 All Century Men’s
Swimming Team. Tom represented the United States in Sydney,
Australia at the 2000 Summer Olympics, and was elected Team
Captain. Individually, Tom won a Bronze Medal in the 200 Meter
Individual Medley. As Captain, Tom lead the United States swim team
to its most successful Olympic games, as USA swimming won 33
Medals. This number was 1/3 of all medals won by U.S. Athletes at
the Sydney Games. Tom has been married to his wife Stephanie for 14
years, and is a father of two children who both currently swim for
Red the Bank YMCA.
Coach for Sr/Sr1, Jr1/Jr2, Red
This is Abby's 5th year on the Red Bank YMCA coaching
staff. She previously coached various age groups for 3 seasons
at the Freehold Old Bridge YMCA. Abby swam for 12 years at the
Freehold YMCA. Abby graduated from Rider University in 2011
and as a Doctor of Physical Therapy from Seton Hall University
in 2018. She is certified in kinesiology taping.
Coach for Jr1, Jr2, Sr2, Sr1B
This is Tyler's 4rd year coaching for the Red Bank YMCA.
Tyler started swimming competitively at the age of 12 with the
Ocean County YMCA and ended his swim career at Ocean County
College. Tyler attends Monmouth University where he majors in
Business Management. He earned an Associates Degree from Ocean
County College in Business Administration.

Bonnie has been coaching swimming for the past 8 years. She has coached the Monmouth Heights Manalapan Summer swim team as well as the Freehold Old Bridge YMCA team. Bonnie holds a B.S. in Biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Bonnie has been married for 21 years and has 3 daughters.
Coach for Sr2B
Ruth holds a B.A. from Bowdoin College where she was an All-American swimmer. She also has a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Scranton, and has worked extensively with children through teaching and coaching. Ruth lives in Holmdel with her husband and two children.
Bob has been a coach for the Red Bank Swim Team for the past three seasons. He attended Temple University's Business Management School on scholarship. Bob, originally from Pennsylvania, started swimming at the age of 5 and continued through Masters Swimming. He was a 2-time league champion in freestyle and medley relay, and was a recipient of the Philadelphia league coaches Most Valuable Swimmer Award. Bob also participated in the Eastern Conference Swimming Championships at Harvard University. He was recently nominated into his high school's Hall of Fame. Bob currently has three children swimming for the Red Bank YMCA.
Coach for Blue, Sr, Sr1
This is Amelia's third year coaching at RedBank. She is a graduate from West Chester University with a degree in professional studies accompanied by a minor in athletic coaching and Spanish. At WCU she was a DII 4 time All-American. Amelia is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) through NSCA. She designs and supervises the strength and conditioning program for the Senior Age groups focusing on injury prevention and sports specific movements. She has worked with the national team for the past three years. Amelia currently works with a variety of groups: Senior, Senior 1, Senior 1B and Blue.
TJ: TJ has recently
returned as a coach. He swam for the Red Bank team for several
years. While on the National team he took 2nd place at long
course nationals in the 50 Fly. In short course nationals he
placed 6th in the 50 and 100 free and 8th in the 100
fly. He is a record holder at CBA as well as Red Bank
Coach for Sr1B, Sr2
Scott has coached at Red Bank YMCA for the past 16 seasons. He currently works primarily with the senior 2 group where he helps focus on both stroke and dryland training technique. In 2003 and 2004 Scott was an assistant swim coach at Holmdel High School. He holds a B.S. from Kean University where he played collegiate baseball. Scott resides in Point Pleasant and has 2 sons.
Toni Marie DeGennaro
Coach for White and Red
This is Toni Marie's 1st year back coaching. She took
time off to start a family. She
swam for Red Bank YMCA swim team starting at
the age of 8 through high school.
She then swam under the guidance of Head Coach Jack
Caucino, when he was at Ocean County College. Toni Marie was
a National Qualifier both years with Jack in the 400 IM, 100
Breaststroke, and 200 Breaststroke along with both medley and free
relays. She started teaching swim lessons at the age of 14
at Red Bank YMCA and has coached both summer and winter teams
throughout the years. This past summer (2017), she helped
coach our Camp Zehnder Summer Swim Team.
Toni Marie continued her swimming and education at Kutztown
University, graduated with her Bachelors in Education. Soon
after she graduated from Monmouth University with her Masters in
Education. This is Toni Marie’s 17th year teaching
middle school Mathematics in the Middletown district. She is
married and has 2 young children, daughter (9) currently on the RBY
team and a son(6).

Donna holds a B.S. from Montclair State University in Health and
Physical Education and a Masters in Health Education from New
Jersey City University. While attending Montclair she
was the Head Lifeguard and taught swim lessons with
Montclair’s Head Swimming coach, Brian McLoughlin.
After graduation, she worked for Berkeley Acquatic and coached and
taught at Bridgewater-Raritan High School for 15 years. She
currently teaches at Manalapan High School. She began
coaching for Red Bank’s summer team, The Summer Rockets, in
2018. Donna lives in Howell with her husband and 3 young
children, two daughters (7 and 10) currently on the RBY team and a

Coach Al has worked at the YMCA in Red Bank for 4 years.
He enjoys helping swimmers develop skills and learn about
teamwork. Coach Al started swimming at age 3 and holds
several medals from Brazilian National Championships. He is a
Marine Veteran and received a Purple Medal Honor for excellent
service. He is an Entrepreneur and has a masters in
Accounting. Coach Al is also a master in Capoeira
Brazilin Martial Arts and has taugh children and adults for 15
years. Coach Al is a 7 time gold medal winner in National
Championships. Coach Al loves spending time with his family.
