TRAC Coaching Philosophy

TRAC is all about the athlete and will take a philosophy that dictates technique over yardage. The effects of overtraining young athletes can be seen throughout swimming, with athletes hitting 15-16 no longer competitive, not improving, injured and looking to try something else. The effects of yardage training have peaked and since no attention was given to proper technique and race preparation the athlete hits the proverbial wall. As the swimmers mature into the more competitive levels of swimming it is imperative that they have worked to become the most efficient they can be in the water.

TRAC will focus on technique throughout our program. Our Race Pace Technique philosophy will focus on improving our technique while swimming similarily to what we do when we race. Developing the ability to perform at a high speed, improve our times by using proper strokes, underwaters, walls and turns will then assist the athletes in a continuation of improvement as they grow and get stronger.

The coaches at TRAC will be teachers first and personally engaged with our swimmers. We will be looking to keep our swimmer to coach ratio at a level where we continue to allow constant feedback to our swimmers. Teaching swimming is a skill and an art which requires preparation, knowledge and passion. That is what we want to stand for.
