The WTRC Coaches are here to support your needs. If your questions are related to workouts, meets, events, goal setting, and other swimming related needs, please contact one of the coaches. The best time to talk with a coach is NOT during a workout!  Please understand that our first priority is to give our athletes the best instruction and most attention possible.  Email for each coach is listed below.  It is a great way to either communicate or set up a meeting.

Evan K Mulliken

Head Coach


Office hours: Monday thru Thursday 10am-12pm

Evan has been coaching the Sharks for the past four years. He joined the team following tremendous success with the Lakeside Seahawks of Louisville, KY where he served 7 years as an Assistant Coach and Head Site Coach. Coach Evan has a great reputation for educating and developing swimmers. He believes that  success is built from the bottom to the top with patience and progression. He is committed to developing talent and challenging the already talented to become even better.  Evan has been involved in competitive swimming since the age of six. He swam for Saint Xavier High School (KY) and Western Kentucky University.

Dave Johnson

Assistant Head Coach


Dave has been a swim coach for more than 40 years and has been with the WTRC Sharks since 2017. Prior to joining the Sharks, Dave was the head swim coach at Urbana University for 7 years.  During his tenure, the team was named's Most Improved Team in NCAA Division II, while Dave was named Appalachian Swimming Conference Men's Coach of the Year.  He was the coach of the Springfield YMCA swim team for 29 years and also served as the coach for both  the Springfield North High School and Springfield High School teams.  In 2002, Dave was inducted into the Springfield City Schools Hall of Fame.  In college, Dave swam for Miami University where he was 3-time MAC champion in the 100-yard Breaststroke and a member of the MAC champion 400-yard Medley Relay Team.

Megan Matt

Assistant Coach


Coach Megan has 8 years of coaching experience and has been a coach with the Sharks for 4 years. She grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and began competitive swimming around the age of 5, continuing to swim competitively through high school. She first began coaching while still in high school when she started coaching a summer swim league.   While in college, Megan also  coached a group of 8 and unders and coordinated and taught swim lessons thru a community pool.  After college, Megan was a teacher and head coach of a local high school swim team.  Coach Megan focuses on developing our younger swimmers, concentrating on safety and technique while always having fun.  “I truly enjoy working with the kids to encourage not only the development of their swimming skills but also a passion for swimming as a sport.”  Coach Megan is also mother to two Sharks swimmers. In addition to her work as a coach, Megan has 13 years of experience as a Firefighter/Paramedic and is currently studying to become a Physician’s Assistant.

Jennifer Marusko

Assistant Coach


This is Jennifer's second year coaching the sharks and she is excited to be back.  She has been involved in youth competitive swimming for almost 20 years now.  Originally from Pittsburg PA, Jennifer began swimming at the age of 8 and has never lost her love for the sport. As a mother of six swimmers, four currently on the team, she knows the importance of training, dedication and having fun.
