
Marilyn Grindrod
Head Coach
Marilyn Grew up in Monroe, New York and competed in swimming in Newburgh, New York with an AAU team training at the YMCA 1966. Graduated from Monroe Woodbury High School, Orange County Community College, celebrated top female athlete, and was one of the first female athletes in New York State involved with Title 9, playing tennis on the her High School tennis team, still swimming and teaching aquatics to swimmers in and around the New York area.
Married to Mark Grindrod in 1972, who was serving in US Navy, lived in Dunnon Scotland for a few years, then returned, continuing education at Southern Connecticut State College, while husband was in the submarine force stationed out of Groton Connecticut.
Moved to Washington State in 1977 upon graduating from SCSC with a degree in Physical Education and a minor in Fine Arts, while husband was stationed at NSB Bangor. Has two grown daughters Jamie Shearer and Teressa Scott and four grandsons.
Started coaching with Bangor Swim Team and North Kitsap HS swim Team in 1978. Established a feeder USA swim team to HS swimming with the NK Swim Team in 1980’s as well as managing the Naval Submarine Base Bangor Pool and Bangor Trident’s Swim Team, and involved in US Master Swimming.
Coached for 15 years with Olympic Aquatic Club, and most recently Bremerton Family YMCA swim team in Bremerton Washington.
