As the Pacific Northwest Swimming Chair of Diversity & Inclusion, Coach Dane leads the development and implementation of several groundbreaking initiatives for any US Olympic Committee sport that include an LGBTQ+ Show-Your-Pride Campaign, Inclusion Education Program, and Financial Barrier Removal Policy. He has also worked hard to expand female leadership opportunities and seamless inclusion of athletes with disabilities. In 2014, Coach Dane left the private sector in order to focus on building a more inclusive aquatics program at Metro Parks, and has since become a steward for increased participation and expansion of underrepresented communities within the sport of swimming.

Outside of swimming, Coach Dane is an active member of the Pacific Northwest Diversity Council; National Diversity Council; Culture Collective; and the Graduate Tacoma Early Learning Collaborative Network. He was an active member of the Seattle Seahawks Fan Advisory Network from 2015-2017.
