2020 LMYA Dolphins' Coaching Staff
Jack Sorensen, Head Coach
Jack has been involved in the swim community for over 30 years, in both competition and coaching. Prior to joining LMYA, Jack was Head Coach at Danville Sea Devils for 10 years. After Danville, Jack took the Head Coaching position at Woodlands where the team advanced from last at County to 3rd overall. Jack brings the mindset of “work hard, play hard”; that through consistency, hard-work and dedication, swimmers will succeed and have fun while competing.
Coach Jack is originally from Salinas where he grew up swimming and playing water polo. His skills were further refined when he attended USC to play water polo and during his 15+ years on Walnut Creek Masters. In addition to coaching swim, Jack has also coached water polo for Dougherty Valley High School, San Ramon Valley High School and 680 Water Polo. Jack is currently a Physical Education teacher at Dougherty Valley High School and resides in Concord. Jack believes that being involved in swim builds character that is unlike any sport, taking its lessons and applying them to all aspects of life.
As senior members of the LMYA Dolphins swim team, our junior coaches help the younger members of our team and gutter guppies in the water during practices.
