Kim Wanner

Head Coach

Coach Kim started swimming at the age of 3 and competitively at 4. She spent her swimming career at Wilmington Aquatic Club under Hall of Fame Coach Bob Mattson. She represented the Mid-Atlantic LSC at Eastern Zone meets, was a Jr. & Sr. National Qualifier, US Open Qualifier and competed at meets across the country. She was an IMer and breaststroker. Kim has spent many years teaching swim lessons, coaching at WAC, and most recently coaching at MDY. Kim’s coaching philosophy is rooted in her passion for mechanics and the science behind swimming. You’ll hear Kim on deck adjusting strokes and providing constant reminders to facilitate self-correction. She will be OPST’s biggest cheerleader and be just as loud at competitions as she is during practices!

Kristina then went on to swim for Salisbury University for 4 years where she earned a degree in Mathematics Secondary Education. She is now a math teacher at Stephen Decatur High School.

Kristina’s coaching career started when she was 15, both swimming and coaching for South Carroll Serpents.
