HEAD COACH, CPHS SWIM TEAM
Vicky brings over twenty years of coaching, business marketing, management and competitive swimming experience. Her philosophy is: swimming with a strong foundation: CHARACTER, CAMARADERIE and COMMITMENT. Included goals as a coach is for each swimmer to leave the program with a toolbox of experiences that they will reference in future years. She promotes and encourages open mindedness in the learning process. She believes learning takes not only small steps but sometimes new steps outside of the comfort zone. Her motto is: "You don't have to be an Olympian but you are expected to have the heart and mind of one."
Vicky is in her third year as College Park High School Head Coach. She is also the Head Coach of Mount Diablo Dolphins USA fall team, and the Assistant Head Coach of the Pleasant Hill Dolfins. She has been the head coach for Incline Tahoe Aquatics, Incline Village, Nevada; Truckee High School, Truckee, California; and Copperfield Racquet and Health Club Aquatics Director, Houston, Texas. She has officiated for the Pacific as well as Northwest Aquatics League Houston, Texas.
Her coaching background comes from the lineage of coaching mentorship starting at Dad’s Club, Houston Texas, founded by Richard Quick and past down to a long line of National, NCAA and Olympic coaches. She has felt privileged to received training and mentorship from the Dad’s program.
She continues to pursue her own swimming goals as a master’s swimmer; currently swimming for Walnut Creek Masters under the direction of Kerry O’Brien. She has achieved USMS National Top Ten, FINA Long Course World Top Ten, and Relay All American. “There is nothing more relevant than sharing the experience of training together and competing together, physically and mentally.”
Vicky’s passion for exercise physiology keeps her engaged in researching the sport and learning from the best in technique and energy system training. She continues to research and share her passion for swimming physiology, sports psychology and altitude research.
She recognizes the fortune of her network and connections with world class coaches, mentors and former Olympians that have become her friends over the years. She never hesitates to connect with them in order to learn and grow as a swimmer and coach.
She continues her other sports passions which include tennis, and wakeboarding. Other passions are home decorating and design and photography. Vicky and her business partner Joe, own a virtual tour photography software company used to market real estate and vacation property rentals.
Vicky has two children, Chris 25, Lexi, 21. Chris graduated from The University of Nevada with a degree in Finance, Lexi is attending Southern Methodist University in Dallas Texas, studying Economics and Design Media. Her fondest memories were of their childhood years swimming and competing. “There is no greater joy than seeing the growth and development of our youth in all areas of life!”
