2018 Coaching Staff
Eric Parker -
I grew up in a small town in the cornfields of Indiana. There wasn’t a lot to do. Fortunately, some bored Hoosier dug a hole and filled it with water – so I started competitively swimming at age 5. I continued until I went to college at Michigan State where I was promptly distracted by, uhm, other things. I did, however, coach a summer swim team outside of Cincinnati and founded a small swim club at another Michigan college. Upon graduation, I began my teaching career near Houston, and assisted coaching the high school swim team there. I eventually made my way back to the midwest, and then to Maryland. About five years ago, a supposed friend convinced me that swimming across the Chesapeake Bay would be fun. It wasn’t – but I still did it three times anyway. I live in the Linganore community and my two children are Dolphins. I'm greatly looking forward to my first year coaching the Dolphins; it's going to be a phenomenal season.
Alicia Jenkins -
I grew up in a town outside of Philadelphia, I started swimming for our local YMCA when I was 5 and fell in love with the sport. I swam all through high school and college at Widener University. Many people think I am insane because I am a distance freestyler and the mile is my absolute favorite event, but I am okay with that. After college, I started coaching a summer league team, much like the Dolphins, and loved every second of it. This experience was awesome and lead me to coaching for a YMCA program and for a local high school for two years before moving to Frederick. I could not wait to start coaching again. I am very excited and looking forward to my first summer with the Dolphins!
Celia DeBord - Assistant Coach
I have been an assistant coach for the Dolphins for three years and cannot wait for another great season! Swimming has been a part of my life for a very long time and has been so much fun to be involved in. I have swam competitively for eight years and also been a part of the Dolphins during the summertime where I was a coach in training. I swam all four years at Oakdale High School, where I will be graduating from this spring.
Colin Desmond - Assistant Coach
I've been swimming for about 13 years. This year I'm excited to just see everyone there swimming and having fun. I graduated from Oakdale High School last year.
Dylan Humbert - Assistant Coach
This will be my 8th year on Dolphins, which was the first swim team experience. I just completed my junior swim season at Oakdale High School. I'm very excited to be returning as a swimmer and assistant coach for my second season and to be working with the people I grew up with on the team who pushed me to be the swimmer I am today. As a returning coach, I am looking forward to a fresh start this season and to continue to strengthen bonds with old swimmers and to welcome new swimmers joining the team! I look forward to helping with strokes and technique. I hope that I can make the kids enjoy coming to practice and going to meets as much as I do. I’m looking forward to a fun and successful season!
Emily Baba - Assistant Coach
I started swimming for the Dolphins when I was six years old and I’ve been on the team ever since. I have been a coach in training for the past two years and this is my first year as an assistant coach. I swam for various club teams for the past five years and I swam for Oakdale High School this past winter; although I’ve made the most friends and memories while swimming for the Dolphins. I really enjoy teaching and getting to know the younger Dolphins. I am very excited to be an assistant coach this season.
Michael Roach - Stroke Consultant
I'm a senior at Linganore High School. I swam two years for the high school and was the county champion in the 500 free my sophomore year. I've been swimming for the Dolphins for 14 years. Over the years, I have swam for FAST, Health Unlimited, and currently Monocacy Aquatic Club. My summer mainstay was and is always the Lake Linganore Dolphins. I'm most excited for the meets. The meets are such a fun and exciting time for everyone. I also have a personal affinity for cars.
