I have been always been in love with the ocean and the water for as
long as I can remember. I was that rambunctious child that would
see a body of water and jump right in, so needless to say I had to
learn how to swim the hard way! I had a community pool growing up
and I was there almost everyday. I slowly became friends with the
lifeguards and they truly were the ones that influenced and
inspired me to pick up swimming and ultimately teaching other kids
how to swim. I swam all through high school at both Forest Park and
Hylton High. I later joined an off campus swim league in college
because I went through a period where I doubted myself and my own
ability. This is exactly what I would like to bring to the team,
high confidence, great sportsmanship, a great ability to grow
together, discipline and lots of FUN. I currently work for SwimKids
Swim School and have been with them for six years. I have a
couple new tricks up my sleeves that I cannot wait to bring out
this summer. So let’s live up to our name MARLINS and get
this new season started with a SWIFT SPLASH. VETS PARK will be a
force to be reckoned with.
Assistant Head Coach
Coach AJ is entering his first season as a Marlins Assistant
Head Coach after three seasons overseeing the Marlins in Training

her swimmers progress in each stroke and become a dominating force
at the meets!
Coach Johnathan is a life long Marlin, year round swimmer, and a
coach that is dedicated to teaching young swimmers the proper
technique and give pointers on how to improve each time swimmers go
out and perform. He has previously supported the Marlins as junior
coach and has held several team records. Coach Johnathan's goal
this year is to challenge his swimmers to bring their very best
effort to each practice/meet, have fun being on the team, and
building strong friendships that will last a lifetime.
Coach Jala has been with the Marlins for several seasons and is
very excited to work with the Marlins in Training (MIT)
developmental program. She has a passion for swimming and
working with younger swimmers to gain an understanding of the many
different aspects the sport has to offer. Her goal this season is
have all MITs swim in atleast one swim meet by Divisionals.
Coach Owen was born a Marlin and has become somewhat of a Marlin
celebrity. He has a passion for swimming and continues to excel in
the sport and is excited to share his interest and love for
swimming with the Marlins team! He is working with the 8 and Unders
group and his goal is to have all of his swimmers swimming legal
strokes by Divisionals. Coach Owen can be heard leading the
team cheers and getting all the swimmers pumped up for the meets.
He is the holder of team records and has become a leader and mentor
for many Marlin swimmers!
