Thomas Anderson

Assistant Swim Team Coach

I began swimming at the age of nine for Marine Hills which nurtured into a love for the sport. This drove me to further my progression by joining King Aquatic Club at age 11. I am a former national age group record holder in the 100-yard backstroke for the 13-14 age group. I qualified for the 2017 World Championship Trials, being a triple finalist in all three backstrokes. I currently attend the University of Arizona under a swimming scholarship, earning an honorable mention All-American status in my freshman year and sophomore years.

I am beyond thrilled to be able to come back and coach for the summer swim team that fostered and grew my love for the sport of swimming and the joy of racing.

My name is Piper Hutchinson and this will be my third consecutive year coaching at Marine Hills Pool. When I was six, my family and I moved from Seattle to the neighborhood of Marine Hills. My swimming career at Marine Hills Pool began as a speedy sixer and continued all the way until I graduated from high school. Some of my fondest childhool  memories and friendships were made during my summers of swimming at Marine Hills Pool. Growing up I played many sports, with soccer being my main focus. I went to Federal Way High School and am now currently enrolled at Highline College where I am working towards my associates in Pre Nursing. Alongside coaching during the summer, I also coach  for King Aquatic Club, lifeguard and teach swim lessons at the King County Aquatic Center, and just recently became employed as an office assistant at Today's Chiropractic of Des Moines. Although my schedule is busy, I am always excited for a summer spent down at the Marine Hills Pool. I look forward to a successful and fun summer!

Jason Nguyen

Assistant Swim Team Coach

Jason started swimming competitively at 10 years old for King Aquatic Club and also swam for Marine Hills in 2011, 2012, 2013, and his final season in 2017 as team captain. Once he finished his swimming career, the experiences he's accumulated during his time with King and Marine Hills quickly led him to pick up coaching, and started coaching Power for King in September of 2017 until April of 2018. The positive experiences he's had, has led him to coach on King in hopes to further cultivate King's culture and spread more positive experiences in a different manner from just being a teammate on King. With all of these experiences, he now wishes to spread those positive experiences on Marine Hills and help build athletes as well as good people of the community. Jason is currently studying at the University of Washington with an intended major of Psychology and hopes to further his education afterwards with a Doctorates of Physical Therapy.

I began summer league when I was 6 years old and enjoyed it so much that I eventually swam on King Aquatic Club for 7 years. While I was swimming on King I was able to break two national age group records and win two state championships. I am currently attending Central Washington University as a physics/aerospace engineering major and in the meantime running the CWU Swim Club as the club president. I had such a great time last year and I am looking forward to spending another summer coaching at Marine Hills.

Josh Drewry

Head Tennis Coach

Email

I have been involved with tennis almost as long as I can remember. I was a competitive player in high school and university. My first job was at the Spokane Racquet Club, doing everything from court maintenance to racquet stringing. I have worked as a high school and junior high school teacher and coach now for 11 years now, instructing boys and girls from a variety of backgrounds and experience levels on two continents. For the last three years, I have worked to develop the sport in our community as the head tennis coach for both the boys’ and girls’ programs at Federal Way High School and took over the tennis program here at Marine Hills last year.

As a coach, I emphasize the development of lifelong players through solid fundamentals and an appreciation for the etiquette of the sport. I truly hope that I can foster the same enthusiasm I have for tennis in our athletes
