Hello everyone! I'm Elizabeth Rivera, and I'm so excited to
be the Head Swim Coach at MacGregor Downs Country Club this year!
When I'm not at the pool coaching or relaxing, I am an Elementary
Special Education teacher. I married my husband Corey, a little
over a year ago and we live in Knightdale with my step-son Maddox.
I have been swimming competitively since the age of four when I
started swimming in Summer League with my neighborhood team, I
started swimming year-around at the age of eight, and
continued with my summer league team as well until I was eighteen.
I went to Boston University for swimming my freshman year
before an injury caused me to take a step back from swimming and
find my next passion, teaching! I love coaching because it combines
my two favorite things, swimming and teaching! I can't wait to meet
you all and find our "new normal" with summer league swimming!
I have been coaching for 7 years and swimming my whole
life! Previously I coached for the Woodcreek Whitecaps. I
swam club for New Wave swimming and currently swim for University
of Lynchburg. I am studying exercise physiology and coaching in
pursuit of graduate degrees in athletic training and physical
therapy. My favorite stroke is breaststroke and I qualified for
NCAA in 100 breaststroke in 2020! I look forward to coaching my
second season at McGregor!
Gregory has been swimming competitively since the age of three for summer league teams and year-round club teams around the area. He was the Assistant Swim Coach for his neighborhood team last summer, and a Junior Coach the summer before that. He is lifeguard/CPR/AED certified and has worked as a lifeguard the past two summers He is currently a rising sophomore at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill studying Sports Administration and Journalism, and is also a part of the club swimming team. He is a huge sports fan and a fan of the Carolina Panthers, St. Louis Cardinals, and the Charlotte Hornets.
My name is Hannah Frey and I have been in the water for as long
as I can remember! I swam competitively for year-round and summer
leagues during my child and early adulthood, and continued to swim
in college at UNC Wilmington. Being so close to the beach, I loved
swimming pier-to-pier and doing laps in the incredible recreation
facility on campus. I graduated college in 2018 with a degree in
English and Secondary Education and now teach at a high school in
downtown Raleigh. My favorite stroke is butterfly because it is so
beautiful and powerful. I love teaching drills to improve
individual strokes. This will be my first year as an assistant
coach with the MacDolphins and am looking forward to getting to
know each and every one of you!
