Sam Protich, Head Coach

About Sam

The water has always been my home: learning to swim by 2 and joining East County Stingrays under Serge Victor at 7 in 2002. At the age of 11, I transitioned into fall season and spring clinics with Serge at New Wave Aquatics. At 16, I made the jump to club by joining the Concord Terrapins Swim Team. While in high school, I swam 3 years varsity and was a team captain senior year. Over the course of the years, I gained swimmer/coach and assistant coaching experience from East County Stingrays, Dana Hills Otters, Oakhurst Orcas, and New Wave Aquatics. I cannot wait to bring my passion, dedication, and techniques I’ve learned along the way to the team and see what new accomplishments the team can do!

Brandon James, Assistant Head Coach

About Brandon:

Brandon brings the experience of an Olympic Trialist from 2016, he also broke the national junior college record in the finals of the Men’s 200 back. James posted a 1:45.18, breaking the national mark of 1:45.19 set by Stefan at the National Junior College Athletic Association Championships while attending Diablo Valley College (DVC). He brings the most up to date, Olympic caliber, training techniques to us. We could not be more excited, to have someone with Brandon's abilities, to be a part of IVST!!

Jenna Larson, Assistant Coach

A few words from Coach Jenna (2018):

Hey Indian Valley!

My name is Jenna Larson and I am so excited to be coming back this summer as an assistant coach!

Not far from Walnut Creek, I am currently studying Agricultural Business at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo and swimming for the CP club swim team. I graduated from Las Lomas High in 2018 where I spent all four years involved in the swim and water polo teams. I also had the opportunity to be a captain for both varsity teams my senior year while qualifying for North Coast Sectionals in the 50 and 500 yard freestyle. I started coaching for IV in 2015 as a Guppy coach and I have continued as a Junior coach for the past two years!

After 12 memorable summers as a swimmer for IV, I am looking forward for passing on to each swimmer what this team has given me, including not only a passion for swimming but a family full of spirit and pride.

Let’s make this the best season yet! #pride #goivst
