DCST Head Coach Jim Mercurio

Jim Mercurio is the head coach of the Devon Crest Swim team.  He's in his 14th year in this position.  Jim just completed his 15h season coaching at LPAC (Lower Paxton Aquatic Club).  He started coaching LPAC while he was still a senior at Bishop McDevitt High School.

Like some of our own kids on the team, Jim started swimming when he in preschool.  He continued to swim all through high school.  Jim is a history teacher at his alma mater Bishop McDevitt High School

Coach Jim has had a tremendous impact on the team with our swimmers showing consistent and rapid improvement in their skill level and times.  He is the consummate professional who approaches his duties in a serious and organized fashion.  He has a reputation for maximizing each swimmers' skill level in a fun, challenging and exciting program.  We are so lucky to have Coach Jim at Devon Crest!

DCST Coach - Alyssa Massaro

I swam for Devon Crest for 13 years and I will be entering my 11th year as a coach. I am excited and honored to work alongside Jim this summer in place of Coach Bree. I certainly have big flip flops to fill!

I swam for the Bishop McDevitt swim team throughout high school and LPAC for a few years. It was through my experience as a Junior Coach for Devon Crest that I realized I wanted to work with children and become a teacher. I am now studying Elementary Education at Penn State and plan to graduate in the Spring of 2018.

I spend most of my summer at Devon Manor and wouldn't want it any other way. I will be the Manager of the pool this summer and I am excited to work more closely with the pool board and members.

The best part about Devon Crest for me is how inclusive we are. I love meeting new swimmers and working with them to help them improve. Watching a new swimmer climb out of the pool after swimming their best time and seeing the look on their face is very rewarding. I am looking forward to many more moments like that this upcoming season!

DCST Assistant Coach - Daniel Logan

I have been a Devon Crest Gator for the past 8 summer seasons.  I began my competitive swimming career with Devon in the summer of 2010 and have loved every minute of being on the team!  I have been a junior coach for DCST for the past 3 seasons and have coached for my club team's mini team for the past 3 seasons.  I am very excited about taking on a new role this coming season.  I work as a lifeguard at Devon Manor as well, so my summer life revolves around water, which I could not be happier about!

I swim competitively year round and have also been a part of the Varisty swim team for Susquehanna Township High School from 2013-2017.  I was very blessed to have qualified for States 3 out of my 4 years while on the High School team and was named as one of the Captains for the 2016-2017 season.

I  attend Messiah College  and study Accounting and Business Management and am excited to say I swim at the collegiate level as part of Messiah's Men Swim Team.  Although I am no longer a swimmer for Devon Crest, I will never forget the experiences I have had and the relationships I have made.

I am extremely exctied to help coach all of the Gators this summer!  I love to watch the kids improve over the course of 3 months as they grow into amazing young swimmers.  Devon Crest is my home and I will always continue to give back to the sport that has given so much to me.

DCST Substitute Coach Bree Witwer

Bree Gaiski will be returning as a substitute coach this summer. Bree has been a valued coach at DCST for many summers, we wish her much luck in her new career endeavors and are excited that she will still be participating in a limited role with the team.  She has served as an assistant coach for LPAC in past years as well and continues to provide substitute coaching when her schedule permits. She swam for WSY from age 5 under Coaches Rusty Owens and Mike Gobrecht. She also swam for the Bishop McDevitt swim team. She has always had a passion for the sport of swimming as well as working with children.

Bree is the youngest of four kids. She graduated from Bishop McDevitt High School in 2004. She got her degree in elementary education from Penn State University.

For Bree, there is nothing more satisfying than the look on a child's face when they realize that they can swim and have improved as a swimmer. Instilling those moments is just one of the things she loves about being a swim instructor. She does a fantastic job working one-on-one with the kids on stroke technique and fundamentals. Bree is excited to be back at Devon Crest this summer and is looking forward to an amazing season in the “A” division!
