Head Coach - Summer Season
Wendy began swimming competetively at age 9 in Midland, Texas and competed for 11 years. In Midland, she trained under famed Australian Olympic Coach Terry Gathercole, George French (coach of world record holder/Olympic gold medalist John Nabor), and Doug Ingram ( protege of Olympic Coach Richard Quick). During her swimming career, Wendy held numerous Texas age group swimming records and from age 10 through age 16 she was ranked as one of the "Nations Top 10" fastest swimmers in multiple events. She qualified for and competed in the U.S.National Championships at age 12. She also qualified for the U.S. Olympic Time Trials in the 200 meter backstroke. She swam in college for the U.S. Naval Academy where she was an All-American. Much later in life, Wendy coached at Clear Lake High School, where her team won the Houston Area 5A Regional Championships and sent a large contigent to the Texas State 5A Swimming Championships. The team placed 5th of 30 teams with two relays and two individuals winning gold at that meet. She also led stroke clinic training for the Clear Lake Blue Marlins Summer League team with over 200 swimmers. The Blue Marlins consistently won their summer league championship meet. Wendy and her husband, Dom, moved to Salida in 2011 and she has been working with the Salida Cyclones for 3 years.
