- Aquatics Director and Head Coach of DART at Arden Hills

- Head Coach of the Sierra Nevada Olympic Training Camp, Zone and National Select Camp, USA swimming National Diversity Camp

- Assistant coach of USA Swimming National Junior Team


Swimming Background

- Swam for Golden Bear Swim Club

- Won high point at Far Westerns and was a finalist at Junior and Senior Nationals

- Was a Member of UC Berkeley Swim Team

- Was a scholarship athlete at UC Berkeley and BYU



- Grew up in the Bay Area

- Married to Cherie for 23 years

- Daugher Kailee is 18 and freshman at Boisie State; Son Kaleo is a Freshman at Jesuit High School

- Scholarship athlete for 4 years at Drury University - Team captain senior year

- NCAA DII National Championship Team 3 times

- NCAA DII National Champion (200 Breaststroke, 400 Medley Relay)

- CSCAA Academic All American and NCAA Post Graduate Scholarship recipient



- Daugher, Tessa, is an honorary DART swimmer, class of 2036

- Attended St. Francis High School in Sacramento

- Began competitive swimming at 15 years old

- Enjoys dabbling in sewing, drawing, and other hands-on creative activities

- Has served on the following USA Swimming Staffs: Zone Diversity Select Camp, Zone Select Camp, and National Diversity Select Camp

- Currently serves on the Sierra Nevada Swimming Board of Directors

  • 20+ years coaching experience in Sacramento and Petaluma
  • Age Group & Assistant Senior Coach, DART at Arden Hills
  • Advanced Group Coach at Arden Hills
  • Current Assistant Coach at Jesuit High School, swimming and water polo
  • Assistant coach at American River Water Polo Club, 10 years


Swimming Background

  • Began swimming at age 8 in Rohnert Park
  • First Swimming All-American at Santa Rosa Junior College (100 & 200 Breaststroke)
  • Scholarship athlete at University of Wyoming
  • Began coaching at Petaluma Swim Club while still swimming at age 17
  • As Head Coach at Rio Americano High School, led team to three Section Championships
  • As assistant and Head Coach of the Rio Girls water polo team, won five Section Championships
  • National Level Starter and Deck Referee
  • Junior National qualifier (back when it was the AAU, and called National Junior Olympics)



  • Met wife Karen on the pool deck at Cottage Pool
  • “Children” Lucas, Jessica, and Troy all swam for Coach Brian at Arden Hills
  • Enjoys dark roast coffee and many other sports, but Swimming and Water Polo are tops on the list
