Head Coach & CEO
Kathleen Kinsey is the founder of the Folsom Wahoos Swim Team. Kathleen and her daughters moved to the Sacramento region after spending 8 years in Europe. Kathleen has lived, coached and swum in many places. Kathleen was the head coach for the Sigonella Swordfish, a base youth swim team that was run as a private club. Nearly 20% of the base youth took up the sport of swimming regardless of previous swimming experience, making the Sigonella Swordfish a vital part of overseas life for the families stationed in Sicily. However, that meant Kathleen and her coaches had to teach children how to swim, train them and get them swimming fast all before the tour of duty ended. Despite loosing one-half of the team each year, the Sigonella Swordfish ere successful in their league; the European Forces Swim League.
Kathleen began swimming in 1979 in Saratoga Springs, NY, swam in college at Hood College (1983-1987) where she earned a bachelor's degree in English and pre-law. Since college, Kathleen has played lacrosse for UC Berkeley, participated in triathlons, and road races in Italy where she was the 2009 Sicilian cycling champion. In 2009, Kathleen was inducted into the Hood College Hall of Fame for swimming. Kathleen has three daughters who also swim, Greta, Hallie and Annika. When she is not coaching, Kathleen can be found on one of her favorite Italian road bikes.
