Coaching Staff

Northern Sierra  is a coach directed program.  If you have any questions about our program please contact Coach Daryn.

Northern Sierra is the result of a 2012 merger between the Penguin Swim Team and the Bear River Swimming Association.  The Penguin Swim Team has a long and storied history of producing great swimmers in the Grass Valley area under the direction of retired coach Larry Gruver.  The Bear River Swimming Association was founded by Coach Daryn and Coach Ethan when they moved to the area in 2007.  They built the program from scracth and the team is now a top level team in Sierra Nevada Swimming and the premier youth sports program in the Grass Valley and Auburn area.
