Chris Oshiro

Head Coach, Elite Swim Academy

Email

Coach Chris brings years of experience and is excited to head our Elite Swim Academy at Arden Hills.  He came to Arden Hills Swimming in June 2005, after eleven years as head coach of Vallejo Aquatic Club (VJO) where he grew the team from twenty-five regularly attending swimmers in the winter months to over 160 swimmers year round. He has coached a Junior National qualifier, several Sectional qualifiers and Far Westerns champions.

Prior to swim coaching, Chris worked for fifteen years in radio. Outside interests include a passion for playing golf; browsing golf shops, bookstores and used CD stores; and driving his car aimlessly, without a destination in mind.

Chris comes back to Arden Hills after many years of involvement in the Sacramento swimming scene. A competitive swimmer from the age of 8, he swam and played water polo in college. He began coaching while still swimming for the Petaluma Swim Club, and during his time at Sac State, was the Head Coach for FEC for three seasons. His three children all swam for Arden Hills; youngest son Troy represented AH and UC Berkeley at the 2008 US Olympic Trials. Lucas and Jessica have both coached at AH, Lucas with the Year-round team, Jessica for the Otters. Chris retired as Head Coach for the Rio Americano High School Swim Team and Girls Water Polo team, to focus on a new career search. While at Rio, his teams never lost a league championship or league dual meet, and his 2004 and 2006 Boys teams, and the 2008 Girls team won Sac-Joaquin Section championships. Chris served as the Assistant Head Coach for the Otters from 2013-2014 and as a DART Age Group Coach from 2014-2016.

Chris most recently served as the Aquatics Director and Head Coach of the Johnson Ranch Barracudas.

Adric Jope

Head Age Group Coach, Dev./Tr. Group

Adric is excited to be returning for his 8th year of coaching at Arden Hills. Along with his role as Head Age Group Coach, Adric is also the Arden Hills Aquatics Director, Otters Head Coach and an Elite Swim Academy Coach. Adric brings many years of swimming and coaching experience; he first swam rec at Del Norte before arriving at Arden Hills in the year 2000. Adric swam at Arden Hills for 9 years. However, Adric quit swimming at age 11 due to burnout and a loss of motivation in the sport. He returned to swim 2 years later at age 13 with a renewed vigor and determination that still burns to this day.

Adric's return to swim helped shape his coaching philosophy today. His coaching goal is to make every aspect of swim that he did not care for, enjoyable for his team.  Peer relationships, coach-swimmer interactions, fun and winning are just some of the components Adric has strived to improve. Coach Adric's philosophy follows two main principles:

1) Have fun

2) Be successful.

His teams have proven over the past few years that it is possible to have a successful team where the swimmers enjoy their teammates, coaches, meets and practice.

Under Adric's guidance, the Otters have enjoyed tremendous growth and success. Among the accomplishments, in the past 3 years the Otters have amassed an 11-1 conference record, 2 undefeated seasons, 3 -1st place season trophies, 2 Championships victories and more! The team has also impressively placed in the top 10 for the past 3 seasons in the Meet of Champions. In the previous 5 seasons (2013-2017), his swimmers have broken records an astonishing 112 times!

His swimmers consist of Junior Olympics, Far Western, High School Sections 'A' finalists, and he coached swimmers to Western Zones, Sectionals and Futures qualifications.

Adric graduated as a Business Honors student from Sacramento State with a degree in Financial Planning.
