I work full time as a nurse, and with my free time, I enjoy coaching swimming.  I also have three kids of my own on the team.  They have really enjoyed their experience with KYAT. I started swimming when with Murray Aquatic Club when I was 7 years old.  I loved it so much that I continued swimming through high school.  After graduation, I coached for Murray Aquatic Club, Murray High School, and Cedar High School.  I enjoy working with the kids, watching them improve and reach their goals.  I believe that swimming is a great way to teach children the necessary skills for life.  They learn how to work hard for what they want, discipline, and how to work with others.  One great thing about swimming is that it is truly a lifelong sport.   I expect the kids to come ready to work.  But, I also like to make sure we have fun, after all isn’t that why we go to the pool?

Coach Mary began swimming with a Master swim team about 30 years ago.  Between that, and watching her kids swim competitively, she has learned a lot about swimming.  Mary enjoys teaching the kids all she has learned to improve.  Mary is constantly looking for drills and tricks to help the kids improve their technique to swim better and faster.  In her free time, she also runs and bikes to prepare for her many triathlon competitions.

I began swimming at 8 years old as a member of KYAT. I swam all four years for Kearns High School and spent two years swimming at Concordia University in Irvine, California. I am very passionate about swimming. I am so happy that I can continue to be part of this team that helped make me the person that I am today. Go KYAT!

I am excited to be a part of the KYAT program. I began at age 9 swimming for KYAT, back when KOPFC was still being built! Swimming was a big part of my life. I was a State Champion for Kearns High School my sophomore and junior years (100 free and 50 free). Another highlight was my senior year being a part of the water polo team that won the first girl's State Championship for Kearns, and being awarded MVP that year. I spent three years as the head coach of the Sports Mall club swim team before moving to West Jordan in 2018. I have three children who have joined KYAT this past summer, and am so excited to be a part of this wonderful program. Swimming is so good not only for the body, but for the mind and soul!
