Mike grew up in Kirkland and spent his high school and college summers working for the City of Kirkland in the Aquatics department. He was mostly down at the waterfront facilities lifeguarding with fellow Wave employee Michael, or instructing the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Training course for the city. After graduating from the University of Arizona, Mike returned to the Northwest and has been with Wave since 2013. When not enjoying the outdoors on the weekend, Mike can mostly be found at the Juanita Aquatics Center in the mornings. He likes working with the Juanita staff and fellow managers Sam and Ben to bring customers an enjoyable aquatics experience.

He started competing at the young age of 5 in year-round club swim with teams such as O.A.C. and P.S.S.C. in Bremerton, WA, and eventually for Central Kitsap High School.
