Michael Montgomery

Aquatics Director


Michael grew up in Kirkland, where he attended Peter Kirk Elementary and International Community School. He worked for the City of Kirkland for 14 summers, doing everything from teaching swim lessons at the Peter Kirk Pool to managing the beach lifeguards at Houghton, Waverly and Juanita. Michael went to school at UC San Diego, but he couldn't stay away from the Pacific Northwest. He enjoys snowboarding at Stevens Pass, playing soccer for Finn Hill United, spending weekends on Whidbey Island, and travelling near and far to support our Seattle Sounders.

Michael has been with Wave Aquatics since September 2012. You can find him at the Redmond Pool or JAC on weekday mornings!

Felipe Cruz

WSS Director, Operations Manager


Felipe was born in Mexico City, where he discovered his passion for learning about new things, especially other people's cultures and customs. He learned how to speak english, as a second language, at the age of 10 and learned how to swim proficiently at the age of 12. He is currently attending Cascadia Community College, on his pursuit of a Business Degree. Felipe loves to spend time with close friends, playing the guitar, making electronic music and writing as a hobby. You can catch Felipe at the pool weekday afternoons, most likely with a cup of coffee and a huge smile on his face, so be sure to say hi!

Dan Groven

Assistant Manager


Dan grew up in Kirkland, where he has worked for the City of Kirkland Aquatics Program as a Beach Manager and Program Supervisor. He is attending Cascadia Community College, and plans to transfer to Seattle University in pursuit of a Civil Engineering Degree. He coaches lacrosse for the Kirkland Lacrosse Program and enjoys playing sports in the City Rec. Leagues.  Dan can be found at the Juanita Aquatics Center most weekday evenings. He enjoys working with the staff and helping with swim lessons!

Matt Durden

Assistant Manager


Matt grew up in Washington state until he and his family moved to Alaska, where he graduated high school and started his career in Aquatics with the Ketchikan Gateway Borough. Matt has spent the last 10 years working at various pools in Alaska, Washington, and Texas, doing everything from teaching lifeguard classes and swim lessons to managing a pool in Houston. He is currently pursuing a degree in Finance and enjoys weight lifting, reading, and hiking in his free time.
