Michael grew up in Kirkland, where he attended Peter Kirk Elementary and International Community School. He worked for the City of Kirkland for 14 summers, doing everything from teaching swim lessons at the Peter Kirk Pool to managing the beach lifeguards at Houghton, Waverly and Juanita. Michael studied at UC San Diego, but he couldn't stay away from the Pacific Northwest. He enjoys snowboarding at Stevens Pass, playing soccer for Finn Hill United, spending weekends on Whidbey Island, and travelling near and far to support his Seattle Sounders.
Michael has been with Wave Aquatics since September 2012. You can find him at the Redmond Pool or JAC on weekday mornings!
WSS Director, Ops. Manager - Redmond
Felipe was born in Mexico City, where he discovered his passion for learning about new things, especially other people's cultures and customs. He learned how to speak english, as a second language, at the age of 10 and learned how to swim proficiently at the age of 12. He is currently attending Cascadia Community College, on his pursuit of a Business Degree. Felipe loves to spend time with close friends, playing the guitar, making electronic music and writing as a hobby. You can catch Felipe at the pool weekday afternoons, most likely with a cup of coffee and a huge smile on his face, so be sure to say hi!
Mike grew up in Kirkland and spent his high school and college summers working for the City of Kirkland in the Aquatics department. He was mostly down at the waterfront facilities lifeguarding with fellow Wave employee Michael, or instructing the American Red Cross Lifeguarding Training course for the city. After graduating from the University of Arizona, Mike returned to the Northwest and has been with Wave since 2013. When not enjoying the outdoors on the weekend, Mike can mostly be found at the Juanita Aquatics Center in the mornings. He likes working with the Juanita staff and fellow managers Sam and Ben to bring customers an enjoyable aquatics experience.
Ben was born in Bend, OR but spent the first nine years of his
childhood in Olympia before moving back to Bend where he considers
home. After high school, Ben studied Anthropology for two years at
Whitman College and is working hard to finish his degree at the
University of Washington. He started working as a Lifeguard for
Wave Aquatics in 2015 and quickly decided to invest more of his
time with the company. He works today as Personnel Manager at all
Wave facilities and oversees Wave Swim School staff throughout the
week. Ben considers himself extremely fortunate to have been able
to travel through Europe, Asia and North America, where he seizes
every opportunity to apply his education in his travels. He would
like everyone to know that he is proudly bald by choice.
