Coaching Staff

Jenna M Purkey


Head Coach

Jenna came to COM as the Head Age Group Coach in August 2011. Before joining COM, she was the head coach of Abilene Tidal Wave for 5 yrs. During her time as a coach, Jenna has helped athletes of all ages reach TAGS, Sectionals, and Junior Nationals. Jenna was also the Head Swim and Dive Coach for Wylie High School during the 2010-2011 school year. At Wylie, she had a state finalist in both swimming and diving. Jenna is also a level 3 ASCA Coach.
Jenna grew up swimming and performed very well through her high school years as a TAGS and state qualifier.
Jenna has been married to Jonathan Purkey since 2006 and has 1 son- Jason Dean. They live in Midland with their two black labs, Lucy and Sadie.

Mike A Anzano


Assistant Head Coach

Mike has been at COM for 4 years and has primarily been a part of the 12 and under age group program. He graduated from UTPB with a degree in Math in 2013.

Prior to his coaching career, Mike swam for 4 years at Parkland High in his hometown of El Paso, TX. He was a 4A State qualifier in 2008 and 2009, which was the first from his school. In club swimming, he was a Sectional level swimmer for the Desert Shark Swim Club. He continued his swimming career into college as a member of the Falcon Swim Team while attending UTPB. During his 4 years with the Falcons, he received All-Conference academic honors and had the highest GPA on the men's swim team in 2012.

Mike is now married to Aubrei Anzano and they live in Midland with their dog Leia Organa Anzano. 

Carlin B LaBelle


Dolphin 1 & Developmental 2 9-10 Coach

Coach Carlin joined COM in 2014 as both a coach and instructor for the Learn-To-Swim program. 

Prior to coaching, he started swimming competitively at age 8 in Northern Michigan. In 2011, he moved to Texas in 2011 and wrapped up his competitive swimming career for Midland High School in 2013.

Currently, Carlin is pursing a degree in Geology at Midland College.

Abigail G West


Michael D McDonald


Developmental 1 & 2 Coach

Michael joined COM in 2012 and has mainly coach developmental swimmers during his time on the team. 

Prior to his coaching career, he swam for a club team in Odessa when he was 8 and later joined his Junior High Team where he broke the 100 Backstroke and 100 Freestyle records. As he progressed in his schooling and swimming career, he joined his high school swim team where he swam on Varsity for 4 years and graduated from Permian High School in 2011. 

Along with coaching at COM, Michael has broadened into other capacities that include certifying and training lifeguards for the American Red Cross, pool operations and maintenance.

Sarah E Maurer


Coach Sarah joined the coaching staff at COM in March of 2016 as an assistant to various Developmental, Dolphin, and Junior groups.

Prior to coaching, she grew up in Midland and started swimming for COM as a second grader. Sarah has represented her team as a TAGS finalist in the 200 Butterfly and also as a Regional and Zones Qualifier during multiple seasons throughout her swimming career at COM. In addition to these accomplishments, she also represented her high school team, Trinity School of Midland, as a TAPPS first place finalist and previous record holder in the 100 Butterfly. Sarah graduated from Trinity in 2005 and later attended the University of Incarnate Word, where she was a member of the Lady Cardinals Swim Team. In May 2017, Sarah graduated from Midland College with her Associates degree in General Studies. 

Currently, she continues to pursue her educational career and plans to grauate from UTPB this December with a Bachelors degree in Sociology. Sarah works for Laredo Petroleum as a Sr. Operations Technician in the production department in addition to coaching for COM during the evenings and on the weekends. She is mother to her whole life eleven-year-old, Caleb Maurer.

Kyle J Marshall


Kyle started coaching for COM in February 2013. Kyle came from Ft. Myers, FL where he attended North Ft. Myers High School and graduated in 2011. While in high school he was captain of the swim team from 2008-2011, and a three time Florida High School State Qualifier from 2008-2011 and team MVP from 2009-2011. He is a Sectionals Qualifier as well as an Open Water National Qualifier.

Kyle currently swims for UTPB and studies petroleum engineering.

Stan Kuzmin



Coach Stan is a Drury Univeristy Graduate who started his coaching career at COM Aquatics in March of 2017. Prior to attending Drury Univeristy as a colegiate athlete on the Panthers Men's Swimmin & Diving Team,  Stan represented his home contry of Kazakhstan in the 29th Olympic Games in Beiging, China in 2008.

Coach Stan is motivated to changing kids life through the sport of swimming with the knowledge and experience he aquired during his time as a competitive swimmer. Coach Stan believes that with hard work and discipline you can achieve the impossible. 

Hannah Marshall



After 13 years of competing as an athlet, Coach Hannah continues to pursue her passion for swimming by coaching along side her husband Coach Kyle Marshall. Coach Hannah grew up competing in Summer League since the age of 10, and is a graduate from The University of Texas of the Permian Basin where she competed as a Falcon. Hannah also aquired a Masters in Business Administration from Texas Christian University. 

Steve Flato



Luke R Serrano


Coach Luke joined our coaching staff after coaching for Odessa Aquatic Club for nine years. Luke is a Pecos, Texas native where he swam for Pecos Aquatic Club and Pecos High School. Coach Luke went on to graduate from The University of Texas of The Permian Basin with a Bachelors of Arts in History. Coach Luke strives to inspire young athletes to overcome adveristy through hardwork, discipline, and perseverence.
