Scott VanKuilenburg

Level 4 ASCA Certification
Scott joined Cape Fear Aquatic Club in 2018 after serving three years as the Head Age Group Coach of the Water Rats Swim Team at the Westport Weston Family Y in Connecticut. As Head Age Group Coach Scott led the Water Rat age group swimmers from a 24th place finish in the first year to a 6th place finish in Spring 2018 at Connecticut SCY Age Group Championships. Coach Scott has been on deck with all levels of swimming from novice to NCAA qualifiers. Scott’s coaching background includes college level at, Brandeis University DIII, University of Bridgeport DII, and Harvard University DI. Scott has coached Age Group and High School swimmers in Germany, Florida, and California. Scott graduated from the University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in Education/Exercise Physiology after serving five years active duty in the Air Force and reaching the rank of Sergeant. Scott is a five-time USA Masters Swimming (USMS) National Champion, a two-time USMS All-American and a member of the 400 Medley Relay USMS national-record team. In addition to pool swimming, Scott has successfully completed an English Channel relay crossing, the Boston Marathon, and a Half Ironman. In Scott’s free time he enjoys open water swimming, surfing and cheers for all Boston sports teams and the Tennessee Volunteers.

 

 

Evanne Mercer

Evanne is going into her 2nd year as an Assistant Coach for Cape Fear Aquatic Club. Evanne swam for CFAC for 6 years until she graduated in 2017, she started coaching for the team late December of the same year. Evanne best events are Breaststroke and IM. She is currently a sophomore at Cape Fear Community College and will be graduating in the summer of 2019 with an Associates in Film and Video Production. In her spare time she works with animals and enjoys other water sports.  

Jordana Louise VanderEyk

Jordana (Coach J) is going into her first year as an Assistant Coach for Cape Fear Aquatic Club. Jordana coached the summer swim team at YMCA Camp Seafarer in addition to working as a camp counselor and aquatics staff member. Jordana is perusing a degree in Elementary Education. Jordana started working with the YMCA in 2017 in Afterschool Counselor for the Kraft Family YMCA in Apex NC. 

Chris Musgrove

Strength & Conditioning Coach

Chris is in his second full season with the Cape Fear Aquatic Club. Chris focuses on the dry land strength and conditioning program for the Black/Silver Groups and the Varsity, Junior and Senior groups. In addition, to being the dry land coach for CFAC, he is also a personal Trainer at the Y. Chris holds an ACE Personal Training certification, an Ace Functional Training certification and he is in the process of completing a NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist certification. Chris found his passion for fitness in the Army, in which he served for 7 years with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. After the Army, he completed an associates degree at Sandhills Community College in Health and Fitness Science. Chris is now continuing his passion for Fitness at the University of North Carolina of Wilmington majoring in Exercise Science and minoring in Psychology in which he plans to complete this year.

Sarah Dalmas

ACSM Certified Personal Trainer
Sarah is in her first season with the Cape Fear Aquatic Club. Like Chris, she will be focusing on the dry land strength and conditioning programs. In addition to being a dryland coach for the Cape Fear Aquatic Club, she is also a Personal Trainer for the YMCA and the Lead Wellness Coach. Sarah holds an ACSM Personal Training certification and specializes in sport specific training and youth fitness. She has a B.A. in K-12 Physical Education and Health from the University of North Carolina at Wilmington and has been with the YMCA for 7 years. Her passion for athletic training and fitness emerged in middle and high school through a love of sports and fitness, sometimes playing 2 sports a season. In her spare time her favorite activities include beach volleyball and cheering on her favorite teams – the Duke Blue Devils and the Chicago Cubs.       

Jennifer Pate

Team Nutrition Consultant

Jen Pate is an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer, and ACE Certified Weight Management Specialist, to help your swimmer to be able to perform at their best in and out of the water. Jennifer will meet with the Black/Silver/Varsity/Junior & Senior Swimmers and will be discussing some basic nutrition facts, such as calories in vs. calories out, quality calories vs. quantity, how the body uses energy, and how not eating properly effects their performance and has an effect on their overall health. Jen graduated from East Carolina University with a BA in Psychology.
