Scott will be joining our Cape Fear Aquatic Club after serving
three years as the Head Age Group Coach of the Water Rats Swim Team
at the Westport Weston Family Y in Connecticut. As Head Age Group
Coach Scott led the Water Rat age group swimmers from a 24th place
finish in the first year to a 6th place finish in Spring 2018 at
Connecticut SCY Age Group Championships. Coach Scott has been on
deck with all levels of swimming from novice to NCAA qualifiers.
Scott’s coaching background includes college level at,
Brandeis University DIII, University of Bridgeport DII, and Harvard
University DI. Scott has coached Age Group and High School swimmers
in Germany, Florida, and California. Scott graduated from the
University of Tennessee with a Bachelor of Science in
Education/Exercise Physiology after serving five years active duty
in the Air Force and reaching the rank of Sergeant. Scott is a
five-time USA Masters Swimming (USMS) National Champion, a two-time
USMS All-American and a member of the 400 Medley Relay USMS
national-record team. In addition to pool swimming, Scott has
successfully completed an English Channel relay crossing, the
Boston Marathon, and a Half Ironman. In Scott’s free time he
enjoys open water swimming, surfing and cheers for all Boston
sports teams and the Tennessee Volunteers.
going into her 2nd year as an Assistant Coach for Cape Fear Aquatic
Club. Evanne swam for CFAC for 6 years until she graduated in 2017,
she started coaching for the team late December of the same year.
Evanne best events are Breaststroke and IM. She is currently a
sophomore at Cape Fear Community College and will be graduating in
the summer of 2019 with an Associates in Film and Video Production.
In her spare time she works with animals and enjoys other water
Jon will start his 2nd year as Assistant Coach for the Cape Fear
Aquatic Club. Jon is originally from Raleigh, NC
where he swam for YOTA where he was a YMCA National Qualifier. Jon
is currently a Junior at UNC-Wilmington majoring in Finance
and Information Systems. Jon is also a member of the UNCW Swimming
& Diving team. He is a backstroker and sprinter
freestyler and has competed at the Colonial Athletic Association
Conference Championships where he has earned All -CAA
Tom R Addington
Tom moved to Wilmington after serving served as the Head Swim
Coach, Lifeguard Instructor, and Community Swim Aquatics Director
at Whiteland High School near Indianapolis, Indiana.Tom has
over 35 years of aquatics experience as a Swim Coach,
Lifeguard, and Aquatics Manager. Tom grew up in California,
began competitive swimming at age 6 and continued to compete into
his late 20’s. His swimming accomplishments include; High
School and College All-American Honors, NCAA Division II National
Champion and an Olympic Trial Participant. He received his Bachelor
of Science in Physical Education from California State
University Bakersfield in 1988. In Addition to helping with Cape
Fear Aquatic Club Tom is the Aquatic Director at the YMCA.
Tom is also an avid Indianapolis Colts Fan.
Strength & Conditioning Coach
Chris is in his first full season with the Cape Fear Aquatic Club.
Chris focuses on the dry land strength and conditioning program for
the junior and senior groups. In addition, to being the dry land
coach for Cape Fear Aquatic Club, he is also a Personal Trainer at
the YMCA. Chris holds an ACE Personal Training certification, an
Ace Functional Training certification and he is in the process of
completing a NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist certification.
Chris found his passion for fitness in the Army, in which he served
for 7 years with deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan. After the
Army, he completed an associates degree at Sandhills Community
College in Health and Fitness Science. Chris is now continuing his
passion for Fitness at the University of North Carolina of
Wilmington majoring in Exercise Science and minoring in Psychology
in which he plans to complete this year.
