During the school year the team
practices three evenings a week, Monday/Wednesday/Friday from
5:30-7pm at the ASU pool in Plachy Hall. Beginning in May and
through the course of June and July practice increases to five days
a week to accomodate our main meet season. In May, June and
July practices are from 5:30-7pm at the Splashland pool. All
practices are not mandatory, but the more practices your athlete
attends the better they will do overall in the sport. Many
swimmers choose to participate in other sports as well, which is
encouraged! We believe it is good for kids to be well rounded
During our main meet season in the
months of June and July, our League has meets every weekend.
All meets are optional to the swimmers, as they require some
small additional fees. We travel all over the state for these
competitions, and they are a lot of fun!
Trying out for the Team
If you think you are interested in
joining our team, that's great! We take new additions at any
time of the year! The skills required to enter into the Green
Training Group are this: the swimmer needs to be able to swim a
full length (25yards) of the pool front crawl properly
without stopping, as well as the same distance for backstroke.
Knowledge of breast stroke and butterfly are preferred, but
we have no problem teaching those two strokes as long as the
swimmer is able to correctly swim the front and back crawls.
We allow all newcomers to
participate in practices for one week free of charge to "get a
feel" for what being on the team is like before making the full
