BYRON CENTER SWIM TEAM

 

Our competitive program is designed to allow for the athlete to progress based on ability, age and commitment. This progression is; swim lessons, Age Group, then USA Swimming.

Our USA Swimming program has performance guidelines in place and need to be followed. Please be aware of these prior to registering. A parent Handbook can be found HERE.

ALL parents are expected to attend the pre-season parent meeting.

All registration is done electronically, a debt or credit card will be nessecary.

For the purposes of billing there are three USA sessions

Spring\Summer April-July

Fall Sept-Nov

Winter Dec-Feb (march are championship meets and are included in the winter fees)
 
There are 2 Age Group sessions
Winter: Dec-Mid Feb, Summer: Mid May-July

2018 USA FALL Season

USA Parent Meeting: Tuesday Sept 4, 6:00pm Byron Center High School Pool

USA Registration Opens: Tuesday Sept 4 8pm, please us the "CONTACT US" button for questions concerning swimmer placement. ALL swimmers must be registered to participate in practice

Fall USA practices start: Thursday Sept 6th, check calendar for times. Athletes must be registered prior to participating in practice

2018-19 USA WINTER Season

USA Parent Meeting: Monday Nov 19th 6pm

USA Registration Opens: Monday Nov 13th

USA Winter practices start: Monday Nov 19th

Championship season:  Athletes practice through their final compeition.


2018 Winter Age Group Season

Age Group Parent Meeting: Tuesday Nov 13th, 6:30pm Byron Center High School Pool

NEW SWIMMER TESTING: Tuesday Nov 13th, 6-620pm Byron Center High School Pool

Age Group Registration Opens: Tuesday Nov 13th, following parent meeting

First Age Group Practice: Monday Nov 26th , Athletes must be registered prior to participating in practice

Season: late- Nov to Mid-Feb

Training Groups


Age Group Swim Team (ages 6-18)

Eligibility:

Ages 8 & under: MUST be able to swim 25 yards unassisted and without stopping on their stomach AND back

Ages 9-10: MUST be able to swim 50 yards unassisted and without stopping on their stomach AND back

Ages 11-18: MUST be able to swim 100 yards unassisted and without stopping on their stomach AND back

Goal: To expose and condition athletes to competitive swimming as well as the team experience

Practices: 3 x 45 minute practices per week

Meets: Atheltes are expected to participate in meets in order for coaches to evaluate progress and support the team. We are members of The West Michigan Swim League and typically swim 3-4 dual meets a season and end the season with a champoinship meet. 'A' qualifying times can be found HERE.

Cost: $125 per season ($25 of which is non-refundable)


Bronze (Ages 7- 11)

Eligibility: Must exceed WMSL 'A' times for their current age (A times HERE)

Goal: To prepare athletes for 11-12 championship competitons, focusing on IM training.

Practices: 3 to 5, 60 minute practices per week, expected to attend 3, Calendar can be found HERE

Meets: Athletes may attend any of the team attended USA meets they are eligible for. Athletes are expected to compete in BC Age Group dual meets and the WMSL Conference meet.

Group size: 10 to 12 athletes

Cost: $235 per session, USA reg: $65 once annually, Admin: $25 per session (non refundable


Silver (ages 9-13)

Eligibility: Must exceed WMSL 'A" times for their current age (A times HERE)

Goal: To prepare athletes for 13-14 championship competitions, focusing on IM training.

Practices: 3 to 5, 75 minute practices per week, expected to attend 3, Calendar can be found HERE

Meets: Athletes may attend any of the team attended USA meets they are eligible for. Athletes are expected to participate in BC Age Group dual meets and the WMSL conference meet.

Group size: 14 to 20 athletes 

Cost: Training; $260 per session, USA reg; $65 once annually, Admin; $25 per session (non refundable)


Gold (ages 11-18)

Eligibility: Must be able to comlete a LEGAL 100 IM and pass the coaches evlauation.

Goal: To prepare athletes for Open State and participation in the Senior group

Practices: 4-5, 90 minute practices per week plus additional dry land, expected to attend 4, Calendar can be found HERE

Meets: Athletes may attend any of the team attended USA meets they are eleigible for. Athletes are expected to participate in BC Age Group dual meets and the WMSL conference meet based on age eligibility.

Group Size: 14 to 20 athletes 

Cost: Training $290 per session, USA reg; $65 once annually, Admin; $25 per session (non refundable)


Senior (ages 13 and Older)

Eligibility: Open state qualifying times (Open State times HERE)

Goal: to prepare atheltes for National level competitons

Practices: 6-8, 120-150 minutes practices per week plus additional dry land, expected to attend 90% of all practices, Calendar can be found HERE

Meets: As directed by the head coach

Group Size: 20 to 24 athletes 

Cost: Training; $350 per session, USA reg; $65 once annually, Admin; $25 per session (non refundable)
