11th Annual RAYS GRPA State Team Qualifier
The RAYS (Roswell All-star Youth Swim) team is the official City of Roswell all-star swim team that competes in the annual Georgia Recreation & Parks Association (GRPA) swim meet.
Only swimmers 7 & Up as of 6/1/19 are allowed to swim in the qualifier and qualify for the RAYS. This age requirement is mandated by the GRPA and no exceptions can be made for swimmers younger than 7 on 6/1/19.
Do not sign-up for this qualifier meet if you cannot participate in the State GRPA meet on Friday, July 19th, 2019, for 7-10 year-olds or Saturday, July 20th, 2019, for 11-18 year-olds in the event you qualify for the 2019 RAYS. The State Meet will take place at the Cumming Aquatic Center in Cumming, Georgia.
Rapids who participate in the Qualifier meet will compete against other Roswell resident swimmers (i.e. non-Rapids) to qualify for the RAYS.
Each qualifier participant will swim in the short free event for their age (25 yard free for 7-10 year-olds and 50-yard free for 11-18 year-olds) and up to two additional events (non-short free) if they are not trying to qualify for the short free.
Swimmers can only qualify for two individual events. Swimmers who finish in the top three of an individual event for their age and gender (e.g. 9-10 girls 100-yard IM) will qualify for the RAYS in that event.
The short free times will be used to determine RAYS relay teams. The RAYS are allowed to swim up to three relay teams per age group and gender (i.e. A, B, and C relay teams).

Team Qualifier meet is used to determine members for the Roswell
All-Star Youth Swim (RAYS) team – the City of Roswell Swim
Team that will participate in the State GRPA meet in Cumming, GA,
on the dates mentioned above.
The Georgia Recreation and Parks Association hosts state meets in numerous sports throughout the year. Please do not sign up for this meet unless your swimmers will also be able to participate in the state GRPA meet at the end of July (see dates above)
Any Roswell resident between the ages of 7 to 18 (age on 6/1/19) is eligible to participate in the Roswell State GRPA Team Qualifier . Rapids entry fees are free (the booster club pays Qualifier meet fees and RAYS GRPA State Meet fees for Rapids if you qualify). All non-Rapids participants must sign up for the meet at a cost of $16, and non-Rapids will also pay an additional $75 fee if they qualify for the RAYS.
All Qualifier meet participants must provide a copy (no originals please) of their birth certificate to the Roswell Area Park Pool no later than the registration deadline for the qualifier. Swimmers providing birth certificate copies after the qualifier deadline will be charged an additional $15 fee. Swimmers failing to provide a copy of their birth certificate by sign-in on the day of the Qualifier will not be allowed to swim in the Qualifier.
The top 3 finishers in each
individual event for each gender/age group (e.g. 7-8 boys) will
qualify for the team in those individual events. If you qualify for
the RAYS State GRPA team, there is no additional fee to swim in the
State GRPA meet in Cumming; however, you are responsible for your
swimmer(s) transportation and lodging.
You can read more about the Annual Roswell State GRPA Team Qualifier and the RAYS at www.roswellstateteam.org; however, please do not sign up for the State qualifier Roswell Rec class as that is for non-Rapids only. All Rapids will enter via the link on this page. Also, please note that the fees mentioned at www.roswellstateteam.org only apply to non-Rapids.
We encourage all Rapids to participate in the 11th Annual Roswell State GRPA Team Qualifier but only if your schedule permits participation in the State GRPA meet. If you qualify for the RAYS and commit to a position on the team, we expect you to swim in the State GRPA meet. If you later decide not to swim in the state meet in Woodstock, we reserve the right to charge you the $75 non-Rapid fee and exclude you from swimming in the qualifier meet in future years.
The dates and times for RAYS team practices are as follows:
RAYS practices start Monday, July 1st, and will take place every weekday through Thursday, July 18th. All RAYS swimmers will practice from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
Swimmers may not miss/skip RAYS practices without prior approval from the RAYS coach.
Unexcused absences from RAYS practice are not allowed. Failure to notify the RAYS head coach of any planned absences by the first day of practice (July 1st) will result in removal from relay teams. Continued unexcused absences will result in swimmers forfeiting their spots in individual events.
