Swim-A-Thon (Wednesday, March 13)

Mar 13, 2019
March, 13 2019

Hello SWAT,

As you all know Whitworth is shutting down in April for renovations. Whitworth will be closed throughout the summer and will open again in September.

The closure coincides with our Spring break set for March 23-April 7. We will be in touch with you all about our plans for training space April 8-May 1 when our regular training times at Whitworth are interrupted. Beginning May 1st we will be moving all Whitworth training groups to Witter pool. For those who aren’t familiar, SWAT uses Witter Pool in the summer when school lets out for am Long Course Training.

Because we are out of our primary facility and because we do not yet know what our training space and times will be at Witter, we have decided to move our Swim-A-Thon date this year to March 13 so we can take advantage of our home facility before it closes.

We know that originally the Swim-A-Thon was scheduled for May, but we feel that moving the event to March 13 is in the best interest of the team. The Swim-A-Thon is our biggest, and one of only a few fundraisers we have during the year and it is important in maintaining the financial security of the team. Witter pool rent is 3x the regular amount in the off season (which is when we will be using it) so funds from the Swim-A-Thon will help offset our increase in pool rent during long course season.

You will all be seeing an email with the on-line donation platform up and running this week, so on-line pledges can start.

Swim-A-Thon packets will be distributed to the swimmers and families soon (TBA)

A future date will be announces soon for folks that want to meet in the Whitworth lobby for some help setting up on-line profiles or signing up for our shopping fundraising accounts.

All pledges are collected online and are due by March 27th. Billing for the minimum amount per family will occur in April for families that choose not to fundraise. Pledges may be on-line, sent to the SWAT P.O. Box, dropped in the Whitworth lobby locked drop box in the check-in desk, or brought to the Swim-a-thon.

Please help do your part in making this year’s Swim-A-Thon a success. Last year SWAT broke a team record raising $27,000. This year our goal is $32,000. Friends, Family and Neighbors can donate easily online or through your social media platforms. SWAT holds significantly less fundraisers than other teams so this one is important, please help offset our annual costs by contributing.

Like last year, prizes, and incentives are available for the top fundraisers in each group.

Swim-A-Thon Kick-off Party to be announced soon!
