Dog Days Afternoon Volunteer Event
Description: Dog Day Afternoon is an annual event benefitting nonprofits focused on animals. Saint Johns CARES, as a grassroots non-profit organization, has to date generated over $500,000 dollars in charitable giving, and logged almost 8,000 community service hours since the inception of this event. The Loggerheads have a unique opportunity to get involved in this fun event while earning service hours. More details will become available as the event date approaches, but as of right now our team will be responsible for the dog wash (Loggerheads are no strangers to water ).
When: Sunday, March 31, from 12-4 pm (we are helping with set-up and clean-up for 30 minutes before the start of the event and 30 minutes after the event)
Where: Julington Creek Plantation Park – 875 Davis Pond Blvd. 32259
Eligible Volunteers: All middle-school and high-school aged swimmers. If enough interest, we will break the session into 2 sessions-each 2 1/2 hours. Please specify in the notes if you can NOT attend the entire time.
--We also are looking for at least 2 parents to help with swimmer check-in and to assist with the swimmers. Please indicate your willingness to volunteer as a parent in the notes.
Not part of the eligible volunteer group and still want to help (this is open to all Loggerheads)? Don’t worry….there is a way you can contribute!!! Saint Johns CARES collects used towels that will be used during the dog wash and then donated to the benefiting charity after the event. The benefiting charity is St. John's County Fire & Rescue.
· Donation boxes will be available starting Monday, March 1 at both the Recreation & Aquatic Center during all practices
