Gourmet Alley 2019


Need to Know


Volunteers are very much appreciated by organizers and committee members. Thank you for your assistance and cooperation.


Festival dates: July 26, 27, and 28, 2019


There are multiple shifts each day (Friday – Sunday):

AM (9:00am-2:15pm); MID (11:00am-4:15pm); & PM (2:00pm-7:15pm)


  • Start and End time are noted on each volunteer’s nametag label.

  • If you sign up for an early shift and want to work all day, check in with Personnel.

  • If you sign up for a shift, the entire shift must be worked to earn hours.


Dress Code - governed by Santa Clara County Health Dept. and Gourmet Alley

  • Long pants only. Must cover top of shoes. No shorts, Capri pants, etc.

  • Shirts with sleeves that cover armpits

  • Closed shoes (toe and heal)

  • Bib-style apron, plastic aprons will be provided

  • Hat or full visor (not clip on) or a hairnet

  • Long hair must be tied back

  • Plastic gloves will be provided for food handlers


Volunteers can NOT wear shorts, tank tops, or Capri’s when working.


Recording hours:

  • Check in at Volunteer Gate – Miller Avenue

  • Check in at Gourmet Alley Security  

  • We will use bar code nametag label at both locations. Scanning the tags will record volunteer name, volunteer group and start/finish time for total hours worked.

  • You must scan in and out to get hours for your organization.

  • Substitutes:

    • Volunteer Gate – Check in for the person you are replacing.

    • Gourmet Alley Security Gate –

      • Line out name of absentee (with one line only; we still need to read name)

      • Sign in your name replacing original volunteer




Only organizations contacted by Gourmet Alley Committee work in the Alley.


  • Personnel will place volunteers in the booths as needed.

  • Volunteers checking into Gourmet Alley early will be asked to work early.

  • Please do not leave your area unless replaced by Personnel.

  • No smoking, eating or alcohol in Gourmet Alley.

  • No purses or back packs or fanny packs can be carried or worn into sales booths. Boxes will be provided under the tables in the booths for these items.

  • Cashiers will not handle food --- food handlers will not handle money.

  • No food can be taken from Gourmet Alley food lines inside of Gourmet Alley. You must be on the outside of Gourmet Alley.

  • Work areas must be clean at the end of the last shift.

  • Minimum volunteer age in Gourmet Alley is 14 with an adult, 16 without an adult.


A Hospitality ticket is provided for all festival volunteers once their shift is completed as is a ticket to any Gourmet Alley window.


  • Hospitality tickets can be obtained from Gourmet Alley after your shift is completed.

  • Volunteer window in Gourmet Alley will be open until 8:00 pm to accommodate the afternoon shift volunteers.


  • Water and soda will be provided in Gourmet Alley


Please be on time for your shift!
