We are currently exploring way to show successful communication of the USA Swimming (new) Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy. Next year, we will have an acknowledgement form included on your Active account with the YMCA. This year, we are not so lucky. We are looking at trying to use Team Unify's event declaration capabilities to show you have received and read the MAAPP.
Please note: this is a mandated policy for every member or non-athlete member or USA Swimming. Every parent or guardian of a minor aged swimmer as well as every adult member of USA Swimming must acknowledge reading this.
Please use the Online Event Response feature, and CLICK "YES" to acknowledge that you have received and read the MAAPP. If you do not acknowledge reading this policy, you WILL NOT be able to compete in any USA Swimming meets past June 23, 2019.
If this works, great. If not, we are going to send a mass email using an application called "docusign" to show successful implementation of this policy. Please encourage each other to click "yes." Also, please check in with one another to make sure everyone has seen this email. We are looking at acknowledgment verification from over 300 people at this point. It is a massive undertaking for us and USA Swimming.
More information about the policy can be found here: https://www.usaswimming.org/utility/landing-pages/minor-athlete-abuse-prevention-policy?fbclid=IwAR1JET9NJLtok014PnFuaqZcpebyfM-ndVV7y0lY7spUTHPhNsm8U00zrFI
If anyone has any questions or concerns about the policy, I would be happy to discuss it on deck next week. We have shared this new policy with the YMCA Staff and Administration, and we are currently examining how this policy may impact our programing.
Sorry for a two-email evening,
