Description

Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy - MAAPP

USA Swimming has implemented a new Safe Sport Initiative. The Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy (MAAPP) will go into effect on Sunday, June 23rd 2019. USA Swimming’s top priority continues to be keeping our athletes safe. No form of abuse, including child sexual abuse, has a place in our sport.

USA Swimming member clubs and LSCs are required to implement this Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy in full.

The Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy must be reviewed and agreed to in writing by all athletes, parents, coaches and other non-athlete members of member clubs on an annual basis with such written agreement to be retained by the club.

(BAC Masters who do not have an athlete on the Badger Aquatics Club do not need to acknowledge the document, however we ask that our Masters swimmers read an be aware of the policy.)

All Badger Aquatics Club families must comply with this requirement by committing to the MAAPP event on the BAC website by Sunday, June 30th 2019. Commitment/acknowledgement is just like committing to a swim meet.

By committing to the MAAPP event for each Badger Aquatics Club Member in your family, you are acknowledging the following statement:

I acknowledge that I have received, read and understood the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy and/or that the Policy has been explained to me or my family. I further acknowledge and understand that agreeing to comply with the contents of this Policy is a condition of my membership with the BAC Swim Club.

If you have any questions regarding the Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention Policy, please leave your question in the comments section when completing the commitment/acknowledgement.

You will notice a few changes to how the Badger Aquatics Club operates in order to abide by MAAPP. These changes include but are not limited to the following:

All communication outside of practice/competition (phone, text, email, other) between BAC staff and BAC athletes will require a parent/guardian to be copied in on the message. This applies both directions. Athletes will be required to copy a parent/guardian in communication to BAC staff and BAC staff will be required to copy a parent/guardian in communication with BAC athletes.

If a BAC staff member is sending a group communication (text, email, other), another adult BAC staff member will be copied in on the message.
