2019 Lois Weir Swim Meet

Our gymnasium will NOT be available for this meet. We encourage all teams to bring team tents and chairs to set up behind our facility. We will have use of the adjacent patio and green area behind the pool for tent set-up.  We will have a concessions area with breakfast sandwiches and small snacks.  Forks In The Road Food Truck will be on site from 11-4 Saturday and Sunday. Swimmers will enter and exit the pool through the door from the patio to the pool deck. Spectators may sit on the bleachers on the pool deck or in the snack bar area.  A map/outline of the area is attached here and posted on our website. We will encourage our families to bring extra canopies to share. Swim and Tri will be on site Saturday for any swimmer related needs. They will be located in the Social Room.

Lois Weir:  1933-2013

Our ACAC Coaching Staff and Parent Board would like to take the opportunity to give a brief perspective of who Lois Weir was and what she meant to ACAC through the years.

Lois moved to Oak Ridge in 1955 and was a part of ACAC for over 40 years where she has worked with and developed kids from novice and special needs to high school levels of swimming.  Lois loved children and her life revolved around teaching. She ran the Learn to Swim programs in Oak Ridge for 40 plus years. Coach Andy worked with Lois side by side as part of the ACAC age group staff in 2007-2009.

Lois originally started the Clinton High School Swim Team, was inducted into the Oak Ridge Hall of Fame, and was awarded a lifetime achievement award at her retirement from by Governor Phil Bredeson.  Lois was also active with the Special Olympics, and had our USA Swimming Invitational swim meet named for her. Lois also taught at Glenwood Elementary School for ten years until her retirement in 2008.
