VAR TOURNAMENT - Arroyo Grande Weekend
Departure & Return
Departure: Friday morning, August 23rd at 9:00am (boys will miss school)
Meet at the Carpenter's House at 8:30am to load up (480 Boyd Road, Pleasant Hill)
Return: Sunday evening approx. 7:00pm
*Plan to leave SLO area around 3pm and will do a meal stop on way home

Friday – 2 Games
5:00pm Game 1 vs Morro Bay HS @ Morro Bay High School
7:00pm Game 2 vs Clovis West HS @ Morro Bay High School
Team Dinner in evening after games are over at Sylverster’s, our favorite burger-dive in Oceano.
Saturday – 2 or 3 Games
Saturday games start in the morning and run throughout the day finishing up by 4pm. Location and times of games will be determined by Friday’s results. There are 3 potential game sites.
Sunday - Beach Play Day
11:00am Clean-up & Check-Out
11:00am – 3:00pm Beach Play day for team
3:00pm Depart for Bay Area (with dinner stop on the way home)
7:00pm-ish Return to Bay Area
Boys will be transported by the coaches and a few parents who are going down for the weekend.
The coaches and players will be staying together at a rental house in Oceano/Pismo Beach area. The house is a casual beach house that literally sits on the beach and opens right up to the sand. It’s perfect for a team spot.

The house sleeps 18 people in beds. The coaches will each get their own bed (and won’t be sharing with the boys). It is the same house the team stayed in the last three years and it handled the team well. The house sits right on the sand, opened up to the ocean. The beds will have linens on them. Boys can either bring sleeping bags if they don’t want to deal with stripping beds, etc. or use what is there. Some may be sharing beds, so they may like the idea of sleeping bags. It also makes it easier to throw on the floor or couch if they end up there. If you have an air mattress and your son wants to bring it to assure himself a mattress, then feel free. Make sure to bring bedding along with the air mattress if you choose that as there will not be extra.
Meals and $$
Breakfast will be provided each day at the house.
Each player needs to bring enough cash to cover lunch and dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
We will stock the house with breakfast food, snacks, and drinks. Coaches and chaperones will transport players to casual, healthy meal stops throughout the weekend as it fits between games (Chipotle, Deli, Pizza).
Feel free to send down snacks, drinks, baked goods...anything teenage boys will enjoy...and we will stock them in the house for the boys to enjoy.
No one will go without food, so please talk to me directly if you have concerns about providing these funds for your player.
What to Bring
- CPHS speedo, robe, team t-shirt and polo
- Beach attire & gear (house opens up to the sand and ocean)
- Warm clothes for beach nights
- Change of clothes for restaurants and house time
- Sleeping bag & pillow / air mattress & bedding – only if they choose, but not necessary (see notes above)
- Beach Towel (beach towel and possible shower towel as house may not have enough for everyone)
- Cash for lunch & dinner each day (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
Each player must fill out one of the Field Trip Permission Slip attached to this email. They need to be signed off by their teachers for Friday's classes that will be missed. Please remind your student that it is their responsibility to get any work they will miss AHEAD of time when they get the signatures. They are to schedule any tests or make-up work with the teacher when they get the signed release. Permission Slips are due to John no later than at Wednesday morning's practice.
