Michigan Swimming White District Championship Meet

February 22-23, 2020

Oxford High School (Hosted by AQUA & RAZOR)

745 N. Oxford Rd. Oxford, MI 48371

The deadline to sign-up for this meet is Friday February 14th. Once the deadline has passed we will not be able to add swimmers. When our entry is turned into Michigan Swimming, changes will not be allowed. Don't forget to sign your swimmer up! They will be accepting deck entries at the meet.

We would like all eligible Gator swimmers participating in this championship meet! This is the last chance for swimmers to qualify for the Junior Olympics Meet. If you have any questions about this meet, please consult your group coach.

This meet is an end of season championship meet for our team. Swimmers should be entered in their best events and/or events that they are closest to for qualifying for the Junior Olympic Meet. We will be helping make sure your swimmer is in the events that they should be swimming in or we can enter the events for your swimmer. If a swimmer qualifies for a JO cut at the last meet before the District Championship Meet, we will switch the events that they cannot swim anymore in the District meet and pick a new event for them.

Description - The White District Championship Meet is the first Gators Championship meet of the short course season. The District Meet is the first in the series of Michigan Swimming Championship Meets.

The District Championships are the beginning level (no minimum entry times) of the Michigan Swimming Championship meets. Thus, the District Championships are a “slower than a stated time standard” meet. The “slower than” time standards are listed as “Q3” times. A swimmer may not compete in any event in which they have a Junior Olympic (Q2) time or a State Meet (Q1) time. They may compete in other events that they do not have Q1 or Q2 qualifying time for. This includes any 8 & under swimmer who has achieved a 10 & under Q1 or Q2 time.

Meet Format – All events are timed finals. All 10 & Unders and 11-12 boys will be swimming in the morning sessions and all 13 & Overs and 11-12 girls will be swimming in the afternoon sessions. The 13-18 Age group events will be swum together but split into 13-14 and 15-18 age groups for awards. All events will be seeded slowest to fastest, except the 400 IM and 500 Free which will be seeded fastest to slowest. Relays are not offered at this meet.

Entry Limits - Swimmers may swim in a maximum of 4 individual events per day on Saturday and Sunday. There are not any relays being offered at this meet.

Check-In - All swimmers are required to check-in starting 30 minutes before the start of warm-up. Failure to check in will cause the swimmer to be scratched from all events in that session. Check in will close 15 minutes after the start of warm up for each session. Check in sheets will be posted outside of the locker room doors.

We would like all our swimmers to check-in and be on the pool deck and changed at least 15 minutes before the start of warm-up with their events already written on their hand. This allows the coaches to warm-up all our swimmers together as a team. It is very important with the limited warm-up time (20 Minutes) and pool space that kids are on time!

Fees - $5.00 per individual event, $5.00 Michigan Swimming surcharge per swimmer and $10.00 GPG Coaches Fee per swimmer to help defer the costs of the coaches for each swimmer entered.

Age up Exception: All swimmers who “age up” after District’s, before JOs, or their respective State Meet (either 12 and Under or 13/14 & Open) and who don’t have a Q2 (JO) or Q1 (State qualifying) time in their new JO or State Meet age group may enter an event in their current age group at Districts at a seed time at or faster than their current age groups Q3 Time. This additional entry option is intended to allow all swimmers an opportunity to qualify for the JO Meets or State Meets in their actual age group at JO’s or the State Meets. Swimmers who enter an event at Districts under the “age up” exception are not, however, eligible for awards at Districts in that event.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REQUESTED WHEN REGISTERING YOUR SWIMMER

Please make sure you indicate in the Note Section of the athlete entry anything you feel is important for the coaches to know.

If you would like the coaches to help you pick your events for your swimmer please let us know what days you would like them to swim in the meet. If nothing is put down, we will assume that means they will be swimming all days of the meet.
