This is the Michigan State Championship Meet for our 12 and Under swimmers. Swimmers must have State (Q1) qualifying times to participate in this meet.

THE DEADLINE TO SIGNUP FOR THIS MEET IS THURSDAY FEBRUARY 27th. We will be able to add late qualifiers from the JO meet after the signup deadline. Please email Coach Tony to be added to the entry. Once entries are turned in to Michigan Swim, changes or late entries will not be allowed. Don't forget to sign your swimmers up!

Eligibility: All swimmers who have achieved an actual short course yards, short course meters, or long course meters time equal to or faster than the qualifying standards (referred to as Q1 Times) during the qualifying period are eligible to enter this meet. A list of current qualifying times has been uploaded with this document. The qualifying time must have been achieved between 01/01/19 and 03/03/20.

Entry Procedures: Michigan Swimming has adopted USA Swimming's OME (Online Meet Entry) as the sole process for entering teams and individual swimmers into the State Meet. Times achieved at any USA Swimming sanctioned, observed or approved meet will appear in OME. GPG Coaches will enter all swimmers into the meet using the OME. GPG swimmers can sign up for their events on our website. All events for the State Meet should be discussed with your child's coach prior to the entry deadline.

Meet Format: The State meet is a three-day, prelim/final format, LSC Championship where swimmers compete in their age-group. Individual events in prelims will be seeded with the fastest three heats being circle seeded, and the remainder of the heats will be seeded slowest to fastest. The following events will be seeded fastest to slowest: 11-12 400 IM, 500, 1000, and 1650 Free, and 10 & under 500 Free. All relay events will be seeded slowest to fastest and are timed finals events.

Finals events include an “A” and a “B” final (Top 16) for all events except for: 11-12 400 IM, 11-12 500 Freestyle, and the 10 & U 500 Freestyle. These events are timed final events where the fastest 8 seeded swimmers (after scratches) will be competing during finals and all other swimmers will compete during prelims.

11-12 1000 Free & 1650 Free are timed final events where all swimmers compete following the 200 Medley Relay awards at the end of prelims on Sunday. The 11-12 girls will be swimming the 1650 Free and the 11-12 boys will be swimming the 1000 Free. Swimmers can use the qualifying times for both events.

The 200 Freestyle Relays will be swimming at the beginning of the finals session on Saturday evening.

The 200 Medley Relays will be swimming at the end of the preliminary session on Sunday.

Entry Limits: Swimmers may not swim more than 3 individual events per day and no more than 6 individual events and 2 relays for the entire 3 day meet. However, swimmers may enter additional events and scratch events to reach the event limit at the meet.

Relays will be offered for all age groups. The coaches will be putting relays together based upon swimmers’ times for the fastest relays. All swimmers will be looked at as potential relay swimmers. “Relay Only Swimmers” can participate in this meet.

Fees: $10.00 per individual event, $5.00 Michigan Swimming Athlete Surcharge per swimmer and $10.00 GPG surcharge per swimmer to help cover the coaches’ expenses at the meet.

TIME TRIALS: Time permitting, at the discretion of the Meet Referee and Meet Director, time trials for athletes may be offered each day 15 minutes after the completion of the preliminary session. Athletes must be already entered in the meet to swim a time trial. Time trials do count against the maximum per day entry limit of three (3) but not against the total meet entry limit of six (6) and are limited to no more than two (2) per day. The entry fee is $10.00 per individual event and $15.00 for relays. Time trials sign up will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 am each day of the meet. Time trial swimmers must provide their own timers.

(See Meet Referee or his/her designee).

Additional $50 Penalty: In addition to the procedures and penalties stated above, if a swimmer participates in any event in this meet and then fails to compete in his/her last scheduled individual event of the meet without being properly scratched for that event, he/she shall be fined $50 payable immediately to MS.

The swimmer is not allowed to compete in any subsequent MS sanctioned or approved events until the fine is paid.

Please make sure you indicate in the Note Section where you commit your swimmer anything you feel is important for the coaches to know.

Coaches will work with the swimmers to pick their best events for them to compete in. If you would like the coaches to help you pick your events for your swimmer please let us know what days you would like them to swim in the meet. If nothing is put down, we will assume that means they will be swimming all days of the meet. Also, coaches will make changes to their events if they feel it will benefit your swimmer, unless otherwise stated.

Please see the attached meet packet for any additional information about the meet.
