(this is a team hosted event)
We are again offering the opportunity to work shifts at the Norsk Hostfest to offset Family FundRaising Obligations.
This is a great community event and as in the past, our families have had a wonderful time helping with the project. You are welcome to sign up any members from your family that are 13 years old or older. You may also have friends or relatives work shifts for your family as well. Basically, it involves plateing up meatballs, mashed potatoes, a roll, corn, etc. You get in free to the Hostfest and can visit the exhibits before or after your shift. You are also welcome to a free meal after or during your shift. In past years, we have been able to offer $12.50/hour of your shift. Last year, a new group took over the food booth and based their ordering of food amounts on past years. Last year they did not have as many people attend the booth and had too much food ordered. After paying bills, etc., they were only able to pay $8/hour. They are hoping for a better 2019 Hostfest. What ever they are able to pay us, it will be divided between amongst the hours worked and passed on to you the workers.
All personnel handling food must have a current food safety card. The traiining, Food Safety in Temporary Food Establishments, willl be held on Tuesday, Sept 24, 2019 at 1:00 PM in the upper atrium of the State Fair Center.
Attendance is necessary for any food handlers that do not have current certification. The class will be about 60 minutes long, with a test to follow. Those who receive a passing grade will be issured a Temporary Food Safety Card that is good for 3 years. There is no charge for this training. Attendees must have a valid photo ID to take the course.
Persons unable to attend this class may use one of the following options after May 1st.
Online Training will be available at fdhu.org. Select Environmental Health Division and select Food Safety in Temporary Food Establishments. All 4 videos must be watched.
Test codes given throughout the videos are required when taking the test at the First District Health Unit offices. If using notes, they must be handwritten.
It is the responsibility of the worker to contact First District Health Unit to set up an appointment to take the test.
Please don't hesitate to sign up. It is a fun event to work and bond with your other team families.
