14th Annual Hour of Power Relay
Mark Tuesday, November 12th on your calendars as a wonderful new team event! PVA is excited to be participating in the 14th annual Hour of Power Relay. The Hour of Power is an event that honors a Carleton College swimmer (Ted Mullin) who passed away in 2006 from sarcoma, a rare cancer that predominately affects young people. The event is an hour-long relay that hundreds of college, high school and club teams from across the country participate in at about the same time on the second Tuesday in November. The ultimate goal of the event is to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research.
We are inviting and encouraging all PVA athletes (PreAG, AGI, AGII, Senior) to attend practice on Tuesday (11/12) at 6:15pm. Coaches will briefly meet with the team, have Hour of Power swim caps for sale ($5), and divide the athletes into mixed relays. We encourage parents to stay for practice and cheer your children on from the bleachers! This is a meaningful and wonderful way to get everyone swimming together! There is no requirement on the end of the athlete or family to fundraise, however if you would like to learn more about the Hour of Power or would like to purchase your own apparel, please feel free to follow the link below.
We are very excited and hope you will all be there!
Steve, Karrie, Allie, Dan and Veronica
