SBSC College Athlete Information Night
Date: October 24th, 2019
Louise Davis Community Center
1232 De La Vina Street
Santa Barbara, CA 93101
It’s no secret that being recruited as an athlete can help with college admission, but how the process actually works from institution to institution is somewhat mysterious. We will be spending time to demystify the athletics and admission process by also touching upon how an athlete can swim or play another sport in college even if they are not recruited and/or not a member of a club or varsity program. We will also cover how scholarships and financial aid work, uncovering the mystery of how being a college athlete can make getting a degree more affordable. Matt Struckmeyer, Laguna Blanca College Counselor and Master Swimmer, will moderate a panel of local coaches, including Jill Jones Linn (Westmont Women’s Swim Coach and former Cal Poly swimmer), Ellie Monobe (Asst. Coach and Recruiter for UCSB men’s and women’s swimming and former Cal swimmer), Serela Kay (Head Coach of UCSB Women's Water Polo and former UCLA polo player) and Rick Hancock (Head Coach of Santa Barbara Swim Club and former UVA swimmer).
We welcome all parents, athletes and curious spectators to attend and please feel free to invite anyone you may know that might benefit from this informative event.
