Format: Thurs (timed finals); Fri/Sat/Sun Prelim/Final

Sessions: Thurs timed finals PM, Fri/Sat/Sun AM Prelims, PM finals

Eligibility: Qualifiers

Groups/Eligibility: Seniors.  Swimmers must have two (2) or more 2019 Southern Senior Champs qualifying times to enter this meet. They can then swim any event.  Entries with NT are allowed. 

Swimmers may enter up to three (3) individual events per day.

Entry Deadline: November 18, 2019

To commit to this event, please follow these steps:

3. Choose your swimmer(s)'s name(s).
4. Choose "Yes, they will attend" from the drop-down menu.
5. When choosing events, coaches will have the final input on what each swimmer will swim. Once a coach approves events, you will see a red check mark next to approved events.

Prelims/Finals Meet: This is a prelims/finals meet, as such RICE swimmers should plan on swimming both morning and night. There are A,B,C,D finals for individual events unless otherwise specified. 

RICE Gear: RICE Swimmers must be in RICE gear through out the meet. This includes but is not limited to shirts, jackets, parkas, hoodies. Swimmers will use either the Navy RICE Cap or White RICE Cap through out the meet.

Scratch Deadlines: The scratch box is located at the Clerk of Course on Deck. Swimmers must discuss events with Jason and have approval to scratch.

  • Thursday’s events are deck seeded. Scratches are made by not circling in for the 1000 free or by not turning in relay cards. Check-in period for closes at 4:15pm, 45 minutes before the meet starts.
  • Friday’s events: 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5th. Saturday’s events: 6:00 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6th
  • Sunday’s events: 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7th

Thursday Events - All heats will start from the bulkhead (east) end of the pool.  All 1000 swimmers responsible for their own timers and counters.

  • The 1000 Freestyle will be timed finals, swum fastest to slowest, alternating women and men. Swimmers must provide 2 timers and a lap counter.
  • The 200 Free and 200 Medley Relays will be timed finals, swum fastest to slowest.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday Prelims

  • Individual Events 200 yards or less will swim fastest to slowest, odd heats in the West pool and even heats in the East pool
  • Individual Events Greater than 200 yards in prelims will swim fastest to slowest, women in the West pool, men in the East pool.
  • Swimmers may elect to swim the 1650 Freestyle during prelims. The fastest 8 girls and the fastest 8 boys who check-in for the event, and who do not elect to swim in prelims, will swim during finals. All other heats of the 1650 will be swum as the last heats in prelims, fastest to slowest. Swimmers must provide 2 timers and a lap counter.
  • Swimmers in the 500 free must provide their own lap counter for prelims and finals.
  • Relays: The fastest 16 relays that do not elect to swim in Prelims will swim in Finals. Relay heats will swim slowest to fastest in event order.

No Shows: After the heats have been seeded, any swimmer who fails to compete in an individual event heat in which they have been entered and have not been scratched will be barred from further individual and relay events for that day.

Swimming in Finals:  Finals swimmers will be announced at the conclusion of the prelim event swims.  Swimmers will then have :30 minutes to scratch.  At a championship meet, swimmers are expected to compete in second swims if earned. All swimmers must consult with their coach before scratching a finals event.  Swimmers who no show for finals are subject to a $50 fine to Gulf Swimming and suspension from the remainder of the meet.
