Description

Foxjet Winter Classic

January 10-12, 2020

SWIMMERS MUST MEET QUALIFYING TIMES TO ENTER EVENTS IN THIS MEET

We are very excited to return to the Foxjet Winter Classic this January.  The meet attracts many top teams from Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa.  We choose this as our winter team travel meet for some of the reason’s below:

  • World-Class Facility:  The meet is held at University of Minnesota's Jean Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.  It is one of the finest pools in the mid-west and host to many national level competitions.  Great seating for spectators and athletes with warm-up and warm down space available in the diving well throughout the meet.
  • Top regional level competition:  The meet will feature top teams from around the upper mid-west.  Competing against unfamiliar opponents can change a swimmer’s race expectations.  When swimmers compete against the same local competition regularly, they tend to predetermine their finishing position.  Break-out performances often occur once swimmers are freed from the false security of expecting a certain race outcome before they compete.
  • Friendly time standards:  The time standards for this meet are very achievable for many of our swimmers.  Shorter events have easier standards.  An eligibility list can be found at the bottom of the page.  Also, they allow late entries into open lanes for swimmers who have less than the maximum number of qualified events to swim.  This means there is some chance a lightly qualified swimmer may be able to add swims without having the cut after all the entries are in.

Family Travel:  We have booked a block of rooms at The Graduate Hotel for family travel, 615 Washington Ave. SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414.  The rate is $139 + tax per night (14.025%).  There is also a parking charge.  The hotel is located next door to the pool, so you can walk to and from competition, even during a Minnesota winter..  There are numerous restaurant options nearby, including an Applebee’s in the hotel.

To reserve a room:

Please use the link below to make your reservation. Reservations can be made until the cutoff date, Friday December 20, 2019.

Foxjet Meet Eligibility:  Swimmers must have qualifying times to enter this meet.  the report below shows current qualifiers with their qualified events.  If the event is grayed with red type - they are not qualified to swim that event.

Foxjet Eligibility Report Updated 11/25

Open Lane Entries:  For swimmers with only a few cuts,  they offer "open lane" swims to already entered swimmers who do not have qualifying times in the maximum number of events.  Those additional swims are added after December 17th, and are limited, $10 each and given on a first come/first serve basis.
