Oakwood Aquatics offers a competitive stroke instruction winter clinic.  This clinic focuses on technique refinement for all four competitive strokes, with an emphasis on drill progression and being efficient in the water.


Monday through Thursday:  March 2nd- 26th


  • Program open to swimmers aged 5 and up
  • Children wishing to participate must be water safe in the lap pool.
  • Swimmers must be able to swim a full length in the lap pool by doing freestyle with basic side breathing, as well as a full length doing backstroke without assistance.
  • No competitive experience required.  Swimmers are eligible after having met the above requirements.



                                        $200 per child for 4 days/week  (No prorated fee for less days per week)


3:30 to 4:00 PM: Beginner Group (Ages 5-8)

(Must meet minimum skill requirement for freestyle and backstroke)

Swimmers are expected to have a basic understanding of freestyle and side breathing mechanics, as well as a basic knowledge of backstroke.  This group primarily focuses on technique refinement of those two strokes, as well as an introduction to both butterfly and breaststroke.


4:00 to 4:45 PM:  Intermediate Group (Ages 8-11)

(Must be able to swim all 4 competitive strokes proficiently for 15 yards)

Swimmers must have basic knowledge of all four competitive strokes.  Instruction will focus on drill progression for each stroke with an emphasis on technique.  Swimmers will also be introduced to the basics of turns.


4:45 to 5:30 PM:  Advanced Group (Ages 9 and older)

(Must be able to competently swim each of the 4 competitive strokes for a length of the pool)

Swimmers are expected to have a working knowledge of each of the four competitive strokes.  Swimmers in this group will focus on technique refinement for each of the four strokes.  Competitive turns will also be a focus, with swimmers working on flip turns, open turns, and IM transitions.


*There is a limit of 15 total hours of competitive stroke instruction between January 1st and April 1st for all swimmers participating in Summer Recreational Swim Leagues.
