Spectators:
-
Each family will be allowed ONE SPECTATOR from their household per session.
- Names of each spectator will be recorded upon entry to the YMCA
- Volunteers are not counted as the spectator. Bringing non-swimming siblings is not permitted.
All participants/spectators/volunteers are
required to do a self-assessment prior to attending the meet for
symptoms of COVID-19. We will also monitor temperatures on
arrival.
Health Self-Assessment: Do not attend if you any have the following:
- loss of smell or taste
- Sore throat
- Shortness of breath and/or difficulty breathing
- Cough Fever or chills
- Fatigue Muscle or body aches
- Headache
- Congestion or Runny nose Diarrhea
- Nausea/vomiting

Your Swimmer so they understand:
Swimmer and Spectator Seating Area:
SPY pool deck will NOT be available for spectators or swimmers to sit during the meet.
The main gym (visible from the lobby) will be used for swimmers and their spectator. (***In the event more space is needed we may direct visiting teams to an alternate gym location.***)
Spaces for swimmers and their spectators will be marked with tape in the gym.
Each participant and spectator will need to bring a chair to sit in.
Chairs may NOT be moved from immediate vicinity of the marked-with-tape space, as that is to assure proper social distance is maintained throughout the meet. Swimmers/spectator must remain in their chairs or in immediate vicinity, at all times.
Masks must be worn at all times over the mouth and nose unless removed for competition by a swimmer immediately behind the blocks.
NO spreading out large blankets, camping items, large coolers.
Guidelines for Swimmers:
- There will be a pace clock with the current event and heat number in the gym.
- The meet will run exactly on the timeline (announcements will be made if the timeline changes).
- Four heats prior to the heat swimming should line up with the assigned safety marshal located outside the viewing area.
- Three heats prior to the event swimming should be lined up on the X’s on the pool deck near the bleachers on the scoring table side of the pool.
- Two heats prior to the event swimming should be lined behind the red benches behind the blocks.
- One heat prior to the event swimming should be immediately behind the starting blocks.
- ***During relays only one heat will be allowed behind the blocks at a time.
- Swimmers should have a labeled container to store their mask and a small face towel in while they race.
- Once finished with their race swimmers should go immediately to their coach, exit through the family locker rooms.
- Family locker rooms are available for restrooms, and changing following each swimmer's last event.
Spectator Viewing Area:
- Spectators may watch only the event of their swimmer from behind the glass in the viewing or childwatch areas.
- Proper (6’) social distancing and masking must be maintained at all times.
- Spectators must return to their designated spot in the gym immediately following the race (no congregating).

SPY Swim Team has taken enhanced health and safety measures for you, our other guests, volunteers, and our athletes. Everyone must follow all posted instructions while attending this meet. An inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, senior citizens and individuals with underlying medical conditions are especially vulnerable. The YMCA of the USA, cannot prevent you (or your child(ren)) from becoming exposed to, contracting, or spreading COVID-19 while participating in sanctioned events. It is not possible to prevent against the presence of the disease. Therefore, if you choose to participate in a sanctioned event, you may be exposing yourself to and/or increasing your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19. MEET UPDATES & KEY Points
- Limited in person attendance will be accepted for this meet at this time, so we will have other teams attending
- There will be no spectators allowed on deck
- Every swimmer must be a member of the YMCA which they are representing.
- Age for this meet is determined by the entrant’s age as of the 1st day of meet: FEB 27
- Swimmers may swim maximum four (4) individual events per day and two (2) relays per day.
- 500 Freestyle is an open event but limited to those 11 and over.
- 6 & under swimmers may swim in the 8 & under IM, and all four 50 stroke events.
- 6 & under swimmers will be scored and broken out into their own age group when swimming in 8 & under events.
- 400 IM, 200 Breast, 200 Back and 200 Fly are for swimmers who turn 12 by March 30, 2021.
- If an "8 & Under" wishes to swim in 200 free Event(101-102), they should have a "AA" time in the 100 Free
- Swimmers are asked to respect the Springfield YMCA facility and to not enter unauthorized areas. Each team must provide adult supervision for its team members. Anyone found in unauthorized areas will be disqualified from the meet.
- No flash photography during the start of races and absolutely no pictures to be taken at the starting block end of pool.
- For the safety of all, the use of audio or visual recording devices, including a cell phone, is not permitted in changing areas, rest rooms, or locker rooms.
- Deck changes are prohibited. This is defined as any area other than designated locker rooms & changing areas.
- Operation of a drone, or any other flying apparatus, is prohibited over the venue (pools, athlete/coach areas, spectator areas and open-ceiling locker rooms) any time athletes, coaches, officials and/or spectators are present.
- Per USA Swimming Rule 102.8.1F, 12 & Under athletes may not compete in Technical Suits at this meet. A Technical Suit is one that has the following components:Any male or female suit with bonded or taped seams regardless of fabric or silhouette; or any male or female suit with woven fabric extending to the knee or mid-thigh regardless of the seam type.
ENTRY FEES: $4.00 per individual event (for SPY Swimmers)
$16.00 per relay event (fr SPY Swimmers)
NO clerk of course for this meet.

Facility Rules and Policies: |
Locker Rooms and Changing Facilities: Locker rooms are for restroom use only and must not be used for changing or showering. First Aid/Training Needs: Lifeguards are trained to handle water emergencies and first aid on the deck. Please report all first aid issues to the Aquatic Staff. Prohibited Items: The following items are not permitted in the facility: Glass, coolers, and helium balloons. Livestreaming: All events of the meet will be livestreamed via Facebook Live due to limitation on spectator capacity. Concessions: There will be no concessions or hospitality available. It is recommended that you bring any personal water or snacks. |
Locker Rooms / Changing |
Limited use of locker rooms are available and capacity will be monitored. No Showering.. Deck changing is prohibited. Restrooms will be monitored by Safety Marshals. |
Facility Capacity |
Per ODH regulations, the maximum number of participants gathered at any facility is 15% of the posted fire-code capacity. Participants include swimmers, coaches, and volunteers. In observance of the 15% maximum, the number of spectators may be limited. |

Specific COVID Protocols for this Meet |
SPY Swim Team staff will help monitor the number of people on the pool deck throughout the meet and help direct traffic from the entrance to the pool area and then to the exit upon the conclusion of the meet. Mask/Cloth Face Covering Wearing Requirements: Masks/cloth face coverings will be mandatory for all participants. Participants are defined as swimmers, coaches, officials, volunteers, and all other applicable adults as defined by MAAPP. Everyone must wear a mask/face covering for the duration of the meet. Swimmers only have an exception during the swim cycle. The ‘swim cycle’ is defined as the time period beginning with the swimmer being called for their warmup or race until their warmup/race/cool down has ended. Swimmers must wear their mask/cloth face covering when not swimming. |
Entry and Exit Procedures and Health Screening |
All participants will enter through the main YMCA building. There will be touch-free temperature checks. No person shall be admitted with a temperature of 100.4F or in accordance with CDC, or local health department recommendations. At the conclusion of the meet, the exit will be directly from the pool via the door at the west end of the pool leading to the lobby. Swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and officials must conduct daily symptom assessments before each session. Swimmers who are notified of an exposure to COVID-19 or begin to display symptoms prior to or any time during the event are asked to notify their Head Coach immediately and not attend and/or leave the event. |
Athlete Seating Areas |
Team seating will be assigned to designated areas in the gymnasium. Belongings should be removed from the deck at the conclusion of the meet. |
Swimmer Limitations and Protocols |
Swimmers/Coaches: All participants must adhere to the Deck Marshals’/Coaches instructions. Within team areas, the team representatives are responsible for the necessary social distancing of 6 feet (unless within a family). No more than two heats of swimmers may line up between the starting blocks (maintaining their social distance). The swimmers for the next heats will be staged in another area, with distancing there. Swimmers shall proceed to the blocks by the bleachers on the south side of the pool At the conclusion of their race, swimmers should return to their team areas along the north side of the pool by the starter and coaches. Wearing masks, other than during swims, is required for swimmers. When not in the water, athletes are expected to wear a mask at all times, including when walking to and from an event and/or warm-up lanes. Masks may be removed for swimming but must put them on again |
Spectator Limitations and Protocols |
There will be NO SPECTATORS allowed on the pool deck during the meet. Only meet workers, meet volunteers, and those with prior approval from the head coach will be allowed in the pool area. |
Parental Access and Safe Sport Considerations for Athletes |
The Meet Safety Marshal as well as the Spy Swim Team Safe Sport/COVID Coordinator will provide oversight for this. Should a parent need to access a child who is on deck, the child will be brought to the parent at the pool door or in case of emergency, the parent may be escorted to the child. SPY Swim Team will provide a live stream on Facebook Live so parents will have access to and/or opportunity to observe their swimmer. |
