COVID-19 Procedures & Requirements:

Key Safety Considerations

  1. Facility capacity limits will be followed on meet date.
  2. All staff, coaches, volunteers and officials will be required to wear cloth masks at all times. Athletes will be required to wear a mask at all times until immediately before they enter the water. Lifeguards (U of MN only) will be required to wear masks at all times they are not on the lifeguard stand. Once a guard takes the stand, he/she may remove their mask to allow for emergency response. We will place a perimeter around our elevated stands that will allow for anyone approaching the lifeguard to be a minimum six feet away.
  3. Anyone in the facility who has to be reminded more than three times about mask adherence will be asked to leave. Lifeguards, officials and meet marshals will be providing reminders to people in the facility during the meet. The decision for a person to be removed from the meet will be made by the Meet Director and/or Facility Director.
  4. Athletes will use the spectator seating area to allow for proper physical distancing. Deck access will be controlled and monitored by meet director and officials.
  5. Locker rooms may be accessed for restroom use and changing only. To maintain proper distancing, a limited number of people will be allowed in the locker room at a time. Facility staff and/or volunteeers will monitor the number of people in the locker rooms.
  6. Warm ups may happen in multiple sessions to keep pool capacity within MDH guidelines.
  7. Outside doors will lock at a predetermined time once all athletes and personnel have entered and remain locked for the duration of the event. If anyone requires reentry during the event this must be arranged with the Meet Directors.
  8. No spectators are allowed at this time. Meet organizers may provide live streaming of the event should they choose.
  9. Alternative displays of good sporting conduct will be encouraged. No handshakes, high-fives, hugs, excessive cheering, etc. will be allowed.
  10. A waiver maybe completed before entering the facility.
  11. The host team will communicate all expectations and protocols for the meet to the teams participating in a timely matter before the meet date to ensure all participants are clearly aware of the requirements.
